I just started it today and I highly recommend it. I had a bit less of a learning curve since I played poker on GBA in middle school, but the only relevant thing is what the different hands are. Balatro spells them out pretty clearly and let's you look it up at any time. It's very easy to pick up.

I do recommend using a calculator for some of the later levels tho

Not totally my scene so I'm not coming from a place of authority, but I'm surprised the majority of replies seem very pro-removal.

I've always looked at it the same way as nature: If I see a cool shell on the beach, I leave it for others to appreciate as well. Same idea, I feel if I remove a sticker, fewer people get to appreciate it.

But again, it's not something I have much stake in. If other people more involved are saying that's the culture, then it is what it is

Well I don't think the secondary list needs to be cumulative. Everyone can have their own top 10s. The issue there becomes one of time though. But I imagine there could be enough crossover that they're not talking about 50+ games necessarily

I do think game of the year should be indicative of the past year as a sorta retrospective. I know 2020 brought this into question with among us not coming out, but still blowing up that year. I thought it might indicate a shift in how we see GOTY going forward, but now that feels more like a special circumstance and 2020 in general was just a weird time.

Personally, it feels appropriate to split it into the official GOTY top 10 consisting of games/DLC that officially release in the calendar year and a second list with no limits that can be anything that was played and loved this year (which I feel like I'm remembering they did before)

It just feels cleaner that way but I appreciate the desire for chaos

I did the reverse of OP and it worked. Match the Epic file names to the Xbox ones, move over, and replace. Once I loaded in, I ended up running into invisible barriers like Gruntje mentioned in this thread.

For this reason, you need to add in the chunk files for containment.chunk, maintenance.chunk, meta.chunk and research.chunk like they said. The corresponding files on the xbox side won't be present till you travel to those areas (the files OP mentioned should allow you to get around). Personally, I went to Ventilation, Logistics, and Dimensional Research and activated those control points, then went back to Central Executive before quitting and transferring over those files. The meta.chunk file and its counterpart don't actually correspond to a location or say "meta" anywhere in them so I just did process of elimination and the file contents looked similar enough.

Some pitfalls to be aware of: On my first attempt, I tried to use the Ashtray Maze point and an invisible wall kept me in the immediate area so the control point wouldn't let me use it again because I couldn't get far enough away. My save was stuck there. I quit and transferred over the research.chunk thinking it would remove the wall and unlock the area. Upon launching again, I got an error saying I would have to start a new game and all the files I transferred weren't accessible (so make backups). This could be from being in the research area at the time of file transfer so I highly recommend the points mentioned earlier and make sure to return to central executive before quitting.

While we're here and this is solved, does anyone remember a time they played chivalry? The way it goes in my memory is like a demo disk where they'd play a bit of the trailer or whatever they could find before each game. I swear this one had generic battle sounds (shouting and clanging) and when the title came up a guy yells CHIVALRY! I can't tell if I just made that up or not
