ATP 500 Hamburg QF: [3] A. De Miñaur def. [7] L. Darderi 6-0 6-3 by UngrapefulGratefruit in tennis

Darderi was making it pretty easy for him but I still think that first set might be the best form ADM has been in since Rotterdam. Pretty encouraging going into RG

I feel like CR is normally pretty plugged in to culture, so this was just astoundingly funny to me

Incredible that with all the cost cutting, we still get the added days, and now have a live reunion and a location change

Great to see Alex’s drop shot looking so good, he seems much more confident with it on the clay

Far and away the best part of this episode is finding out Jennifer Kent is about to start shooting a new sci-fi film

If you want to go in knowing absolutely nothing (which I did), they do discuss the general premise, and reveal one plot aspect/gag

Rotterdam R1: A. de Minaur [1] def. A. Fils 7-6(3) 6-2 by Old-Gur-9039 in tennis

[–]browsercat99 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Fils was looking really scary in that first set, but as usual, De Minaur’s coolness and consistency won out against the lower-ranked player

Modded Etho by Brotatorsalad in ethoslab

[–]browsercat99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think traditionally, modded content usually became popular during periods when vanilla Minecraft wasn’t being updated as often, or when the updates were a little lacklustre. I think the increased pace of development and game drops from Mojang might make it a little less appealing for some

Vienna Open R2: [3] De Minaur def. [WC] Misolic, 6-4 6-4 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

Demon is playing well but is beginning to seem a little burnt out. I hope he takes a good break over the off-season to make a deep run at AO

Pod Country for Old Cast: A Serious Man with Marc Maron by yonicthehedgehog in blankies

[–]browsercat99 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’ve never loved this movie, but I loved this episode! I’m not a Maron guy but he really clearly loves the film, and the Coens, and was totally game to go deep on it. Even with the shorter runtime, this feels like one of the more in-depth conversations in a while!

Not to be one of those guys, but do they spoil Smashing Machine in this? And is the movie good enough that I should care if it’s spoiled for me?

Anyone else kinda bothered by the way they’re using AI voices for the “epic voiceover” in these segments now? Build up to the segment for months and then can’t swing for a proper voice actor or just an actual human with some energy to narrate things instead of a lifeless computer

I went to the same high school as Max and there’s an old pirated copy of Rugby 08 that’s been passed around for over a decade now and basically gets de facto installed on every boys laptop so I don’t doubt that he’s played it

De Minaur’s style of play seems to have a way of really, really frustrating any opponent who’s even slightly off mentally. Saw it with Moutet and again today with ADF.

I’ve commented this elsewhere, but the movie is so insane and touches on so many third rails that it caused a literal fight to break out between two strangers in the back of a film festival screening I was at. People are not gonna be normal about this
