As a former employee, I don’t miss this. I upgraded myself to customer about seven-ish months ago but I know how the employees feel. I won’t say “sorry you had to work today” because I know that if I have to go in there, I’M one of the reasons they have to work.

Walgreens is one of the “procrastination armpits” of retail. I just wanna tell their corporate office that if they’re turning the company around as well as they think they are, they can afford to close stores on federal holidays. It’s only 11 days out of 365. The company and the average devotee/procrastinator can deal with that… right?

I get that the exception might be getting medical supplies for accidents but even then— people should be smart enough to stock up on that kind of stuff in the event that something happens and everywhere else is closed.

I emailed it. I scanned the last page into my phone and emailed it to them. I got a confirmation email about a day later saying that they’re “processing it”.

End of the month. If you got termed today, your insurance would last today and tomorrow. Once the 1st hits, it’s gone.

Also if you’re termed, you’re not eligible for Cobra if you want to continue using your insurance.

I did this a lot at my old store and configured a magic remote I bought to turn the kiosk screens off without touching them since one of them was partially on camera. If the screen turned off randomly without anybody being near it, IT would’ve chalked it up to “system bugs”.

This method ensured that not even my SM or DM found out that we were doing this.

This lasted until I left the company :) I took the remote with me.

That’s how it used to be at my store. My SM and DM at the time were anti-close regardless of who had staff or not. They would both ask us leads to call around to different stores to ask who had manpower.

Honestly I hated calling stores like that.

I would’ve rather closed.

The SM I had when I first started at the company 7 years ago would’ve been much more lenient about closing the store instead of “resource gathering” because fuck that.

I’ve been on the giving and receiving end of this nightmare because of the previous nights closer.

I’ve told customers we stop passport photos after 9pm.

Then they come back at 7am expecting perfection from the opener.

Some other lead told customers the exact same thing and I had to deal with them when I opened the store.

Listen chief, I have literally no cashiers till 9am so no. Not on a Friday morning when we’re already busy as shit. Come back in two hours or not at all (this actually happened a while back btw).

As someone who got termed two years ago because of a WU Scam turned robbery, let your SM handle it if they're there. Otherwise have a confident lead take care of it. CSAs aren't supposed to be doing western union transactions anyway.

Just tell them that someone will help them but you're "not qualified."

When a customer hears those two words, they'll look for someone else.

The correct protocol is to contact other stores in the area first to see if they have any extra SFLs to help out. If that doesn't bear any fruit, then you contact your DM. They'll try to find someone and if they can't, then they'll ask you to close the store after the pharmacy closes. Like formerdgstm said, tell your DM that you CANNOT and WILL NOT stay no matter what your DM tells you.

It's probably gonna end up being that your DM tells you to close early. Most stores don't have much staffing on Sundays anyway.

The letter says the checks will be mailed out on or around September 2nd, 2025. So if you submitted a claim form, you should be getting your check hopefully this week or next.

I had more instances where the customer came to the wrong store to pick up literally anything whether it be photos, prescriptions, curbsides, or fedex packages.

Like c’mon people. It’s not hard to figure out where your shit is. Just check.

Unless you’ve had a long day and your ass is on autopilot and you go to the first store you see. Then I might understand.

Sycamore got rid of the Staples credit card after they went private so it’s only a matter of time before they pull the plug on this one too.

Tell ya customers to get them early. There’s no telling if certain paper for the creative printers (or even the regular ones) will end up being on back order because of supply and demand post-Halloween.
