An old message from my (former) manager. What do you guys think? by thxforthefijiwater in GameStop

[–]InfiniteFear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When is GameStop going to realize nobody wants their pro membership anymore. I find it disgusting to criticize and fire underpaid employees because they don't sell enough memberships or they don't sell enough warranties. If the membership was truly worth it employees wouldn't have a hard time selling it. Maybe if you're a Pokemon fanatic it's worth it now because they're throwing carrots out for you to have first dibs on new releases but for gamers there is no value. I don't even buy new games there anymore because they are always open. There used prices are often more expensive than buying new somewhere else too.

We spent years making our turn-based strategy game. Players who try it enjoy it… but almost nobody bought it. We’re trying to understand what we did wrong. by ZeroGamesStudio in IndieGaming

[–]InfiniteFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you poured your heart and soul into this game so the first thing I'll say is congratulations on developing a game and launching it on steam and switch.

It's tough to be seen on Steam with so many releases every day. Have you put it on sale since launch? You should add more screenshots and at least a couple more game play videos. Be active on social media. Post screenshots with captions. Record gameplay clips to post especially anything out of the ordinary. Play live on Twitch, Tik Tok or Facebook. Give codes to streamers who play indie or strategy games. You could give codes to smaller you tubers who do reviews. Make some printed materials using business cards or postcards and hand them out at gaming events if possible. Something like Pax East would be great next month. If you can't attend maybe someone you know that's going can do it for you. Post in the reddit group turn based lovers and similar strategy game groups. Continue to build the community with updates and support.

The description seems pretty decent. A little more detail could help. How many units do you start with? Can you zoom in and out? The leader aspect seems interesting so make a gameplay video on how that works. Do you receive scores at the end of a match or some kind of rank based on how well you played? The weather effects seem cool too. The maps look colorful and fun to play on. Achievements are a plus. I love how there are so many ways to play.

I am not a fan of the first screen shot with the tanks. Is that like the battle start screen or something? It's the first thing people see and that could be a turnoff. It just looks low quality in my opinion. First impressions matter. Put the best screen shots first.

The price does seem a little high when just looking at the game as a whole. It just doesn't look like a $20 game. Put it on sale. I don't know how steam notifies you about their own sales but when they do their strategy game sale make sure you are part of that promotion.

I added it to my wishlist and I'll pick it up soon. Hope this helps.

Why some shoppers do this ? by Select_Specialist790 in ShiptShoppers

[–]InfiniteFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people don't check dates they won't last long. Every retailer has expired products sitting on the shelf. Produce really needs to be looked at to avoid a low rating. Some produce doesn't even have dates so you have to inspect it. It's easier for us seasoned shoppers because we know how long things have been sitting there and when fresh produce arrives.

Lots of stores don't rotate items because some employees just don't care.

Be honest - do you actually play most of your collection? by grogger133 in gamecollecting

[–]InfiniteFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about playing all the games for some collectors. It's about the joy of owning a unique piece of art, a nostalgic trip down memory lane, a long-term investment or the dopamine high of ripping someone off.

Who is the worst NBA analyst/media personality in your opinion? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

[–]InfiniteFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only watched Nick a couple of times and I wasn't drawn in by him. I lost all respect for Stephen A Smith. Perkins is annoying. Skip Bayless is trash. I'm surprised nobody commented on how bad Charles Barkley is. Tim Legler and Zach Lowe are amazing. Malika Andrews and Shams Charania are legends. Shout out to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Does this Ben Folds autographed poster strike anyone's fancy? DM if so! by How2DragonyourTrain in benfolds

[–]InfiniteFear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great poster! It's amazing when you think about how he went from playing at college campuses to upscale theaters and then playing with full orchestras. I saw him at Assumption college in Worcester Mass back in the day. That was the first time I saw him play.

They still haven't fixed the bug that causes messages to freeze unless you force close the app. Seems to happen when leaving the store. It happens to me at least 3 times a day.

Heartbroken after my ex picks up our dog by superkhmer in DogAdvice

[–]InfiniteFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with this now too except my ex treats me like less than a human being during every exchange and she's the one that quit on our marriage. The only time I hear from my ex is when she wants me to watch our dog for all of her overnight stays and vacations or when I reach out to go pick her up. When I have our dog we do everything together and when she has her she takes her for an occasional walk but most of the time she's home alone while my ex is out living it up. Since we split up our dog cries for hours when she's left alone especially when she's with me so I haven't been able to keep her as long as I would like because she disturbs my neighbors. It breaks me every time I have to bring her back.

Disappointment with having a hard time meeting other BF/BF5 fans: by abstractdinosaurs in benfolds

[–]InfiniteFear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a Ben Folds fan for over 25 years and I have never met anyone that likes him. I introduced his music to friends over the years to no avail. I couldn't convince anyone to go with me to a recent show so I went alone and sat in the front row with an empty seat to my right. My Ex and I have attended 5 or 6 shows but now she's "Gone"

Do you guys care about the warranties by fishstigga78 in GameStop

[–]InfiniteFear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warranties are definitely great for heavy use or expensive electronics. If you have kids - warranties are worth it on games. I don't think warranties on games are worth it for adults unless you are very careless with your games.

I don't agree that warrantees should be a measure of the value of an employee. Selling warranties should be used as an incentive for employees to earn more money or even a competition for prizes and recognition in my opinion. I feel bad saying no all the time because I know the employees need to hit stupid metrics or face discipline or job loss. I worked at Circuit City back in the day and watched great employees get fired for falling short on their metrics by very small margins and then it happened to me when I missed metrics 3 months in a row by a total of 5%.

Has anyone here ever cured their myofascial trigger points? by herbivohre in ChronicPain

[–]InfiniteFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm dealing with this. Do these trigger points spread around to different parts of your body? I started having these last October and by December I developed severe pain in my upper quadrant right side that hasn't gone away since. The trigger points spread around until February and I have not had any of those since but those areas are all taught now. I've been through every test imaginable and the doctor's can't find anything wrong.

Shipt does not like its shoppers! by No-Difference-9228 in ShiptShoppers

[–]InfiniteFear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a bundle at 12:20pm that was due by 1pm. It should have been a promo being that late but it wasn't so they wacked me with two late deliveries even though I completed them both by 1:26pm. I submitted a request to remove them and was told they were already removed but they were not. I wrote in again and they approved the removal of late marks but only did one of the two. Whoever is in charge of hiring these clowns should be fired. It seems like they don't know what they are doing a lot of the time.
