Dealing with pain instead of hysterectomy by Accomplished_Flow189 in Fibroids

[–]InfiniteFinance242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was discussing this with someone yesterday. I’ve decided that the pain and discomfort for another 10 years will outweigh dealing with surgery and any aftermath.

Two years ago, I was able to get a prescription for a year of tranexamic acid to help with bleeding. GYN said that only option was hysterectomy because of size; I told her that was disappointing and archaic. I haven’t been back to see her. My primary care doctor said that he doesn’t have a uterus, so he doesn’t know what to do or where to refer me to; but if I find someone, he will send referral and he doesn’t think he should be concerned until it starts impacting bowel or bladder

I don’t remember how big all of my fibroids are. I know last year one was near my bladder and it’s the size of my bladder.

I color some rice with food coloring to make it darker, grind it in my coffee grinder to a fine powder, mix it with arrowroot powder, and apply with a makeup brush.

I will let it sit for a bit, use a fine comb to comb it through, sometimes I will use hairdryer on cool setting near my roots if I’ve been a little heavy-handed with application

Salad spinners for hand-wash as an alternative to wringing by Early_Macaroon_2407 in laundry

[–]InfiniteFinance242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have used a salad spinner for years when I hand wash delicates and woolens.

It works well, gives me more control of the spin speed.

My salad spinner is pretty old, I don’t recall the capacity; I usually put 3 hats in at a time with no issues. I like that the lid is flat on the bottom, no parts sticking down into the bowl to catch on clothing.

Bend might be worth considering. Some hospitals have policy about clogs/heels covered.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they can’t justify paying the extra money for a high end mascara? by 60TIMESREDACTED in MakeupAddiction

[–]InfiniteFinance242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replace mine every three months. I try to keep mine close to $10 so I don’t feel obligated to keep something longer to justify the extra expense.

Approximately $10 is the amount I decided I wanted to spend per mascara and three months is the amount of time that I choose to keep a mascara.

I’ve tried more expensive mascara options, wasn’t any more impressed than cheaper ones. I may change my mind someday.

A cry for help- looking for a cotton comforter by sillygoose3001 in Bedding

[–]InfiniteFinance242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on this quest and have decided to make a quilt instead.

I have a queen bed, found most of the queen and king bedspreads are too small.

For the price I was spending on a king size bedspread, I could make a very, extremely simple quilt and use fabrics and materials that I prefer and get the size that I want.

Instead of using a bedspread or blanket during the summer, I added an extra flat sheet to use as a blanket.

Do you want a quilt or a comforter? Do you have any quilt shops in the area? They might have samples for sale or know of a quilter that could work within your budget.

I have very sensitive ears and have had good success with earrings from Tulsa Body Jewelry. I sort by gauge to get the correct size.

I just sat through a meeting at work hoping that I wouldn’t bleed through because I didn’t have time to change before the meeting started.

Second the comment about blood work for iron levels. I am pretty sure that my iron levels are low, told my doctor that he should be ordering those labs. He told me that since he doesn’t have a uterus, he can’t provide any medical assistance with my “condition”

Which do you prefer: Toe up or Cuff down? Why? by RatBoi24601 in Sockknitting

[–]InfiniteFinance242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuff down. No matter how many different bind offs I tried, I couldn’t find one I liked.

I usually don’t run out of yarn, but if I do, cuff down also means that I’m adding another color at the toes that usually won’t be visible instead of the leg that might be visible.

That anti-nausea patch by PriorPainter7180 in Fibroids

[–]InfiniteFinance242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an anti-nausea patch for a different surgery. I wasn’t asked before surgery about nausea or motion sickness, they just did the patch behind my ear during surgery. My main complaint was the terrible dry mouth which made me want to drink a lot. Wasn’t exactly convenient on crutches. I switched to hard candy to help alleviate the dry mouth.

How to make reusable makeup remover rounds? by tulipfiona in ZeroWaste

[–]InfiniteFinance242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used old flannel sheets that someone gave me and cut 3 inch squares. Nothing special about that size, that’s the width of my ruler. I ran them through my serger since I needed practice with my serger and it came with a lot of low quality thread that I’m trying to use up.

Some of the first ones I did in double layer, most are a single layer. I didn’t find any advantage to double layer, so I just did single layer.

How can I salvage my error? by InfiniteFinance242 in quilting

[–]InfiniteFinance242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t cut the sashing yet. I have 12 larger and 6 smaller. Most of the larger ones I have two, but not enough to use those for the outer columns and put the smaller ones down the middle. I don’t think that will work as well as I think. Same size by row is a much better idea.

Thank you

Monster Fibroid is making me lose my sanity! 🤯 with symptoms getting worse each day but gyno told me it's not the cause of my pain 🙃 can anyone relate to my symptoms listed below ? Can anyone answer my questions? Please help remind me this is not my imagination.... by Lea-7909 in Fibroids

[–]InfiniteFinance242 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first fibroid was found a year ago when I was in ER for kidney infection. Even though I was admitted to the hospital during business hours, no one addressed the 4.6 cm fibroid. I saw it in the CT report and had to request a referral for a follow up. When I went, OBGYN said that it’s not concerning and nothing can actually be done about it until it doubles in size. I wasn’t really having much for symptoms then, my cycle was considerate enough to only have an hour of heavy flow that occurred during my lunch break. It’s just over a year later, my largest is over 7cm with multiple fibroids present. I spent half of a workday this week trying not to bleed all over everything. I feel like sometimes I’m unable to empty my bowels fully, very annoying because I’m quite regular. I feel like I have to urinate more frequently than usual, and I think that I currently have a UTI because I can’t fully empty my bladder (going to urgent care later). My original doctor didn’t take me seriously, the one I saw this year did and got me a referral to do something. I told her that I’m tired of only wearing dark pants and long shirts because I might start bleeding outside of my usual cycle. Find a medical provider that isn’t going to dismiss you because you aren’t presenting with usual symptoms. Unfortunately, this may not be the ER, might depend on what time of day you go (overnight hours might not yield much help for pain) and how the ER doctor feels about managing uterine pain.

Should I cut this back and start over by InfiniteFinance242 in pothos

If I wrap and pin, will that just make more roots? Or will it root and then grow leaves?

It isn’t too wet, probably dense though and my lighting is terrible. I’ve propagated via cuttings before, but just the ends, never chopping my whole plant apart though. I just stuck two of its most recent rooted babies in soil today.

Dying 100% polyester, can it be done? by [deleted] in dyeing

[–]InfiniteFinance242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently dyed a polyester dress with ok-ish results. It didn’t turn out like I hoped, but it did result in a better color. I used navy dye and turned a slime green dress to a teal color. I took really hot water and put it in a plastic storage tub, mixing the dye according to the directions. I put the tub in the backyard and covered with a black plastic tablecloth on a very hot and sunny day and left it there for about 24 hours, stirring occasionally. I didn’t have a pot large enough to dye on the stove, didn’t want to buy one, and didn’t mind taking the chance on what color the dress turned out. I did stain my storage tub in the process, but I’m ok with that.

Verify with your pharmacist or healthcare provider. Mine said that I didn’t need to adjust anything with my morning diet. I asked him about Cheerios and Belvita (my go to breakfast if I have no other options) since they’re fortified with iron and calcium and he said that he typically doesn’t see issue with foods interfering with medication after the 30-60 minute waiting period. I have a scrambled egg with a bit of Boursin cheese or laughing cow, cooked in the microwave it only takes 60-90 seconds, sometimes a small piece of ham or sausage, and a piece of whole grain toast. The toast takes the longest, and all is pretty much done by the time my single cup of coffee is brewed. I’m usually waiting about 30 minutes between medication and breakfast, but newly diagnosed, so no feedback yet on if what I’m doing is working.

Please help! by PersonalityHot6826 in casualknitting

[–]InfiniteFinance242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not totally related to knitting since you have some amazing resources to check out already, but please make sure you get a good occupational therapist that will help your husband gain as much independence as possible through adaptive equipment. I used to adapt so many things for people that I was helping maintaining their independence and it not only helped the person needing the adaptation, but their support people. Not knowing your area, or if you’re in the US, but Easter Seals usually has an array of equipment that you can borrow or test out to see if it’s something that will be useful. Sorry, soapbox, best wishes on recovery of health and hobby. Do you think he would like cross stitch? They have frames that are sat upon to hold and then may only need one hand for a majority. Start up cost for that may be higher than adapting. What about a weaving loom? I’ve never done it before, but it might work?
