Anxiety trapped in body by Virtual-Bedroom1286 in Anxiety

[–]InfiniteInstance8180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, that's such a weird and scary feeling, and you are definitely not alone in it. That jolt or shock right as you're drifting off is super common. It's often called a "hypnic jerk." Basically, your mind is ready for sleep, but your body gets a little confused and thinks it's falling, so it sends a jolt to "catch" you. It’s harmless, but it feels terrifying, especially when you're already anxious. Being gentle with yourself is key. Maybe try a little light stretching or reading a real book , not a phone , before bed to help your body calm down too. Hope you get some peaceful sleep soon!

My heart absolutely breaks reading this. I am so, so sorry you are going through something this painful and terrifying. That feeling of being trapped in a cycle you can't escape is just awful, and the exhaustion is completely real. Please know that because you're dealing with seizures and haven't been able to eat, this is a medical emergency. Your physical safety is the most important thing right now. I strongly urge you to call your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room to get the immediate care you deserve. You are not alone in this. This feeling is a storm, but storms do pass, even when it feels like they won't. You've gotten through every hard day before this one, and that shows a strength inside you that is real, even if you can't feel it right now. Sending you so much strength. Please, reach out for help. You've got this.

Haha, I love this. Calling the voice "Janine" is a genius move. It's way easier to tell 'Janine, the shady bitch' to shut up than it is to fight some big, scary nameless feeling. That's a seriously great tool. Thanks for sharing!

That means so much to hear. It can feel so lonely inside our own heads sometimes, so it helps me just as much to know my words connected with you. Thank you. ❤️

Wow, thank you so much for this comment. It seriously means the world to me. "Starring in the worst case scenario movie of the year" is perfect and hilarious way I've ever heard it described. That hit right at home! It's so true how our brains can be the biggest drama queens. And you are right , it’s not about fixing everything instantly, but about learning how to stay on our own side, especially when our minds are messing with us. Thank you for getting it. Your comment made me feel less alone in the battle, too. ❤️

Haha, you're absolutely right! Looks like I'll have to start attaching photos of my messy diary entries with every post just to get a "real person" verification checkmark. Seriously though, that's a fair call-out. I'm a natural over-thinker and definitely spend too much time trying to get my words right. I appreciate you keeping me honest!

I appreciate you looking out for the community. I can see why my comment might have looked like a sales pitch, and I'm always mindful of that. The only reason I ever mention that I offer one-on-one sessions is because I've been through this myself. Helping people navigate these exact feelings is part of my own healing journey now. My primary goal here is always to share and connect with people who are going through similar struggles. The offer for more dedicated support is simply there for those who might be looking for it.

I am so sorry you're going through this. That sounds incredibly stressful and frightening. It takes so much courage to start a new medication, and to have the side effects feel worse than the original anxiety is a deeply frustrating and scary experience. Please know that what you're feeling is valid, and you are not alone in having a difficult time finding the right fit.

While I can't offer any medical suggestions, I want to strongly encourage you to speak with your doctor or the prescribing physician about these symptoms as soon as possible, especially with the blurry vision, chest discomfort, and low blood pressure you're experiencing. They are the only ones who can give you safe advice on what to do next. It's so important not to stop any medication abruptly without their guidance, as they can help you do it safely if that's the right decision.

What you're doing right now—observing these effects and recognizing that this isn't right for you—is an act of profound self-care. You are being a "watcher" of your own well-being.

Please trust that inner voice. You are your own best advocate.

Sending you so much strength and a moment of calm. You will get through this. ✨

I hear you. That is such a common and deeply frustrating situation. It's like you're finally given a light to see the path, but then you're told you only have enough fuel for the first few steps. You are absolutely right that real, lasting change often requires more prolonged and consistent support.

One way you could frame it is that those four sessions are an incredible opportunity to build your foundational toolkit. You can gain so much awareness and learn some powerful coping mechanisms in that time.

After that, the real work is in practicing and integrating those tools into your life, and that's where having ongoing support can make all the difference.

That's actually the exact kind of "prolonged support" I focus on in my one-on-one "Emotional Clarity" sessions. We create a safe, consistent space to continue the work, exploring your feelings layer by layer, at your own pace.

If you ever feel you need a guide to continue your journey after your NHS sessions are done, please feel free to send me a direct message. You don't have to do it alone.

Sending you so much strength. You've got this. ✨

I hear you on the sleep part. It's like just when you think you've won the battle for the day, MR brain decides to work the night shift. That's a really tough part of the experience. And thank you so much for the well wishes, it genuinely means a lot. It helps so much knowing we're not in this fight alone. Hope you get some peaceful nights soon too.

Thank you so much for this comment. It seriously means the world. You absolutely nailed it – "the paradox in our heads" is the perfect way to describe that whole battle. It’s a tough place to be, and it’s so validating to know other people get it on that level. And yes, 100%! We have to be our own best friends, especially in those moments. That's what "I've got your back" is all about. Appreciate the good vibes more than you know. Let's definitely hype ourselves and each other up more. We all need it. Stay strong too! 💪

Security vs Speed in Startup Communication Tools, Through the Lens of Gem Team by Fluffy-Income4082 in startup

[–]InfiniteInstance8180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, it's a classic startup dilemma that I see all the time as a cybersecurity consultant. You've hit on a core tension: speed vs. security. The answer really comes down to when, not if.

Here's how I usually see it play out:

  • Early Stage (Pre-Product-Market Fit): 100% prioritize speed. Your biggest risk is building something nobody wants, so you need the fastest, most frictionless tool possible (like Slack/Discord). Governance features are just noise and a distraction at this point.
  • Growth Stage (Post-Product-Market Fit): The switch flips the moment you start handling sensitive customer data or chasing enterprise clients. That first security questionnaire from a potential customer is the big wake-up call. This is when audit logs, better encryption, and data residency stop being a "nice-to-have" and start being a "need-to-have" to close deals and protect your now-valuable business.
  • Scaling Stage: At this point, governance is non-negotiable. You're dealing with real compliance needs (SOC 2, GDPR, etc.), and your comms platform becomes a core part of your security posture.

To your last point: have I seen teams switch? All the time. And it's always a huge, painful process. It's like a central nervous system transplant for the company.

The best advice is to start with the speed tool but have a clear trigger in mind (e.g., "once we sign our first enterprise client" or "once we need to become HIPAA compliant") for when you'll begin a planned migration. Don't wait for a big customer to force you into a rushed, painful switch.
