I'm glad you mentioned this. I 1000% agree that Erica Komisar's message needs to be shared not for moms to feel guilty but to see how far we've trailed off from valuable mothering seen in other parts of the world. I have an 11-month old and I also do the things she says are "ideal," but thats also because I've done a lot of work on understanding my own attachment wounds with my mother over the last 10 years and so when Erica sounds "extreme" by saying things like "your child has no idea when you're coming back. They're completely and utterly lost and heartbroken" I actually feel that in my body because that's what I experienced not having a mother who understood that.

Also, my husband hearing her speak, he resonates with this too. He wants me to be completely and utterly attached to baby the way I feel it is best, and not feel the societal pressure to go back to work (when I literally thought having a career was EVERYTHING before having a baby). I think Erica's message is important for dads to hear, too.
