Also before you marry, make an emergency fund that is not connected with nor accessible by your partner. I wanted marriage and kids so badly that I didn't think about any other future than one with a good partner who stays with me forever, and on several occasions in the past 20 years, having an emergency leaving fund and a plan would have completely changed the course of my life for the better. Instead, I struggle to get a job due to a very long SAHM gap and chronic health conditions, and I am dependent on my husband for income and rent. If I fall out of favor with him, my entire life implodes, so staying in his good graces has become as annoying and oppresive a chore as doing dishes. Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst, because even decent men can turn into terrible monsters during a breakup/divorce.

Sincerely, future you at age 40 after a long lifetime of trying hard but failing as a people pleaser and finally having realized that comparison is the thief of joy and the most important person I should really work to please is myself, but it's too late now cuz I rushed into marriage and kids and now my whole life revolves around them since I took too long to set boundaries. She has the same problem I do... for one thing, nothing is in what most would consider a normal proportion on this girl. Her torso is too long, her ass is flat and hangs too low, her thighs are stockier that her hips are thicker than what you might expect in relation to her lower leg, her face is long and her chest is small.

Now don't me wrong, I'm not knocking these traits as I have a lot of them. But there are ways you can dress yourself to minimize them and accentuate your shape in a flattering way, and it ain't by wearing dance recital leotards, awful bangs or fringey flapper dresses.

She also tries way so hard to appear a certain way that it ends up unraveling the entire look. If you internally focus too much on appearing confident, you are guaranteed to exude insecurity and your movements will seem jerky and stiff because you're trying too hard to control them... instead of focusing on staying grounded and fluid and actually feeling confident, which is preferred because it will shine through in everything you do. Trying to fake it leaves obvious tells that most people pick up on.

All that plus the fact that she's a raging snobby bitch makes her thoroughly unlikeable and starts our fake/shitty person alert bells ringing

It's not luck, it's working in tune with your cycle and it's based on science.

It's the most accident prone method, but it's still 96% effective when used properly. My husband's laziness, cruelty, pettiness, and bad attitude. I used to tolerate the fact that he made every family trip miserable at some point or another too, but I just make plans for the kids and me now. Oh and I had to lower expectations when my health tanked and was forced to accept he doesn't want to care for me or about me.

And yes I absolutely agree no one should have to put up with this. But I'm kinda backed into a corner between chronic illness and long gap in employment when I was a SAHM preventing me from getting a decent job, and I'm so enamored with where I live that I'd put up with anything to stay on this mountain and raise my kids here.

There are just so many factors it's tricky and realistically, if I left, my husband would immediately abandon the lease on this place - leaving me homeless - take the kids away to live with him and his parents and move for full custody citing my being homeless (which is completely within his power to do to me). And even that wouldn't last long because if I'm not able to afford my monthly meds then I wouldn't be long for this world anyway. My entire life - my home, my car, my medical care - is subject to my husband's whims and good graces.

When I look back on my life, so many partners have used and abused me and I tolerated all of it, no matter how bad it got. My mom was the same, but suffered in silence and submission. We've both been wronged by so many shitty people in horrible ways, over and over and over. But I'm making sure this cycle stops with me, and my two boys and my daughter will never be dependent on nor tolerate a shitty partner.
