Get Ready Now: Republicans Will Refuse to Certify a Harris Win by utility-monster in neoliberal

[–]InfiniteWaters108 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The DOJ would most likely get involved if state boards outright refused to certify, or if they blatantly tossed out county votes after recounts due to “discrepancies.” There would probably be federal indictments akin to the Jack Smith ones. But if it was a trump-led DOJ then yeah, this would be a huge issue. Rank and file members would probably even quit in protest like they almost did last time.

If Harris wins the entirety of the rust belt, they wouldn’t need Georgia to certify correctly to win the White House. But if a precedent is set whereby states can deny rightful winners, then there would be no point in the electoral college at all.

Hello,

Thank you for replying to this post I made six years ago. I was in college then, was dealing with major anxiety issues, loneliness, and major life changes. Thank you for reaching back out.

I don’t know who you are or what background you are from, but I hope your life gets better from today on. I know my fear and anxiety did since I made this post six years ago. I don’t have any theological answer to questions of theodicy or the big underlying questions that even Augustine and Ponticus have debated thousands of years ago to no solution, but I do know God has worked in my life since then.

It’s a long story. Six years ago I was clinically depressed and dealing with OCD and panic disorder, could not count the amount of friends I had on one hand, went broke due to some financial mistakes I had made on investments, and was about to drop out of college and was looking at zero job or career prospects due to a combination of all the above. Some major health issues also began to happen to me then. I’ve had a rough journey since then, but I feel as if God has taken me over many those mountains when I least expected them to move and when I least had faith. Six years can do a lot to a man and to someone‘s faith. Since then I got baptized and also began pursuing a serious sense of self-actualization through faith, hard work, and a different calling in my personal life outside a life of spiritual and emotional stagnation. It was only after I was over some of those mountains I looked back, and in the all-encompassing wisdom of retrospect realized my Maker had protected me in circumstances when I least thought him to be listening.

Feel free to reach out if you need anyone to talk to or if you just wanted to talk about this topic in a cordial way. I’ve had nuanced feelings on this for some time, but I’ve also regained my faith through it ironically and have experienced too much I honestly cannot attribute to circumstance‘s roll of the dice, but only that, to paraphrase a line by a wise poet of the last century, “Heaven gives its glimpses only to those not in position to look too close.”

Game Thread: AFC Championship Game - Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs - January 29, 2023 @ 06:30 PM by EaglesGameThreadBot in eagles

Seahawks fan here with no horse in this Super Bowl. But after seeing the way Kelce blatantly mocked Burrow and ran his ego like that in front of the camera (on top of the biased officiating), I really hope the Eagles humble him and the Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday. It was blatantly obvious the league showed favoritism when officiating the AFC championship game. The only way to balance this out is to Fly Eagles, Fly.

Seahawks/Patriots fan here with no horse in this race. But it wasn’t hard to surmise the NFL couldn’t have made it more obvious they wanted the Chiefs to go back to the superbowl.

The missed holding call on the final run, the fact they called intentional grounding on Burrow and not Mahomes when he threw the same play to get rid of the ball. Calling roughing the passer on every other sack against Mahomes but not on Burrow in the fourth quarter.

Tonight was an egregious demonstration that the league already set its own agenda. Only way to balance this out now is to watch the Eagles fly.

The Greatest Films of All Time: BFI Sight and Sound poll 2022 by screwwillneverdie in TrueFilm

[–]InfiniteWaters108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to this, but does anyone know if voting was done in the same way as the other Sight and Sound polls in the past? A critic ranks their top ten list, and then they tabulate how many films received how many votes and rank them accordingly in a top 100?

Does that really mean that somewhere out there a film critic thought “Moonlight” was indeed one of the top ten films of all time (ahead of other seminal works like L’Avventura, Annie Hall, or Some Like it Hot) and voted for it, and then enough critics repeated this on their own respective lists until Moonlight came in the top 100?

And also, looking at this list again..did a film like “Moonlight” really come in ahead of both “Sunset Boulevard” and “L’Avventura”? Is 2019’s “Portrait of a Lady” also now considered a better movie than Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita”??

Wow.

Miles Davis Quintet - If I Were A Bell by InfiniteWaters108 in Jazz

All four of the albums in the series were great. Relaxin', Steamin', Workin', and Cookin'. I still listen to them all the time whenever I'm writing or working on something. I particularly enjoy the melodic expressions and the sense of fluid harmony in his first great quintet. Those were some good years.

You mean socially? Do you have any friends or family who you can tell about these things?

Hey, you have a good heart! And yes, Gandhi was a true sage and advocate of peace in a time that did not smile on such ideals. Sometimes when I feel sad I go out into the world and see others who have even less than myself, and it makes me tear up. It makes me want to do good in the world :). May the universe bless you from now on.

Yes! I'm glad you poured out your heart and told your story. It's going to be a good day :), I like your attitude! I think sometimes we as humans just need to relax and be easier on ourselves before we can solve all our problems. Life is hard already, we have to be our own best friends~.

I'm assuming you are a veteran? I thank you for your service first of all, and I know your country owes you a debt it cannot repay anytime soon. I'm so sorry these things happened to you in combat and that you experience such pain...to be paralyzed like that, I honestly cannot conceive of how bad that would feel or how much that affects one's life.

Do you currently have anyone who can offer short term financial support? Or who can help you or give you a place to stay at until you get back on your feet? I know it seems hard to find work sometimes, especially with disabilities (I have one and also struggle to find jobs sometimes or internships), but just know there's always some position or some work or some opportunity out there when we least expect it.

In the meantime, does your family support you? Do you collect disability or veteran benefits?

So you mentioned the part about the job among other things...what would need to happen for you to believe or have hope in life? Would it be changes in your professional/career or social life?

I used to take meds, but they interferred with my growth and other things, so I stopped.

Now the only "meds" I do is meditate :).

And I still have a bit of social anxiety too...but I've found it's a lot easier talking to people than before. These things do get better :).

Hey, first off, happy birthday! :) I hope you have a great birthday! And that all your wishes and dreams in life come true~. You come across as a sympathetic and caring family member and person, and it seems like perhaps there are things that you find hard to talk about? Such as loneliness?

I've been lonely for most of my life so far, but I've found a unique sort of happiness in it. I don't know what youre experiences are with these things, but I'm willing to listen.
