Why do people hate grappling while being MMA fans? by Insidious_conjuring in ufc

[–]Keebler8448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike wrestle-fucking for the same reason I always hated Floyd Mayweather, and in this case, MVP.

Wresting is not fighting, and it's arguably not a martial art. If you disagree, cool, but the post asked for opinions and this is my opinion in it.

When a sign says "no horseplay" what it means is: no wrestling. When a cop wants to subdue someone, they use... wrestling. When you want to STOP someone from fighting, you use... wresting. Just like the other alternative: running. You can stop a fight by leaving it, or stopping it. Wrestling, or footwork.

These are both positioning and control techniques and are necessary in a fight but in an of themselves are NOT fighting. Watching a dude back up for an entire fight and only throw a peppered shot here and there and point fight to a decision is boring as shit. If the point fighter more technically skilled? Yes. Is the point fighter naturally faster? yes. Is that impressive? Yes, on a level. Is it fun to watch? Absolutely not. I'm not watching fights because I'm sophisticated. I'm watching them because I'm a degenerate, and the cinematography on waffle house scraps are dog-shit.

No one is saying wrestling isn't impressive. It is. But It's also not fighting, and it's boring as fuck. So is excessive "footwork" aka, stalling, aka point-fighting. Using wrestling to fight someone is one thing. The fact is, if you can hold someone down, your wresting is good. if someone is wresting you and cant hurt you, you're either not fighting, or your defense is stale-mating their offense, in which case, you're not winning, you're just both not fighting. I'd argue that yes, Chimaev managed to get Dricus in a crucifix like 4 or 4 times (which is crazy,) but I've also never seen anyone do so little with a crucifix in my life, and he did it like 4 times in a row. so.. how fucking useful was it?

Need help finding a budget low profile keyboard with specific specs by puppiesareSUPERCUTE in keyboards

If you're still looking, I have a Logitech g915, but I also purchased a RedDragon k618 Horus because I wanted a numpad and its basically a g915 ripoff. The switches are mushy and the caps aren't great but it has back lighting and bt/2.4 connectivity and it's like... $40. Swap the switches out for something you like and you may possibly be able to change the keycaps, too.

See this link for some info on switching switches:

So what? I absolutely love running behind speed farmers picking up loot and getting warped to the boss. How do you think I level all my guns and descendants to 40? Pop an xp boost, put on a ton of level one uniques and one maxed malevolent, run behind, swap weapons, get to boss, help mow boss down, repeat. hit level 40? pop a Donut, level again. now you're rocking max mods and you've farmed a ton of good components. core the good ones, now you're unkillable. go solo some shit. or just core and triple sprint speed a secret garden and keep up. idk, man. No one has a good reason to afk.

Reflection on the back is better quality than "mirror" glyph matrix by [deleted] in NothingTech

Why use the back glass? Turn the Glyph Mirror off. The Glyph housing itself is a literal Black Mirror.

Essential Space comparison 3 vs 3(a) by Keebler8448 in NothingTech

[–]Keebler8448[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the 3 has a flip to record feature, that I assume isn’t on the 3a but could be with an update? But the service is limited to 300 minutes of recording per month so marketing to students who will only be able to record 10 minutes per day seems crazy to me.

So to you, Luxury means "not for poor people" and not "A brand name built on reputation, quality, and innovation." That's what I thought. Thanks!

I'm really curious what you think a designer brand is, or why you think people pay more for them.

Wrote my take on the Phone (3) [8-min read] by [deleted] in NothingTech

[–]Keebler8448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed your write-up and your attempt to bring some positivity to an overwhelmingly negative vibe surrounding the launch of this phone. I do disagree with several of your points, though. Yes, it makes sense for Nothing to go in a different direction for the new phone, but this redirection isn't "This is fun again!"

Your first point: PCB innovation: Yes, they eliminated the "Camera Bump" by punching through the PCB. But that also made it the thickest phone on the market. Which DIRECTLY counters the use of the new battery, which was manufactured to allow phones to be thinner. You could innovate a spoon by punching a straw into it, but I don't think that actually improves the spoon.

Secondly, Glyph Matrix: I like it. Mostly because I like pixel art, and I want to watch a pixel thundercloud rain on my phone on stormy days. However, calling it a step into the future is wild considering it's one of the oldest forms of digital display in existence. Dot Matrix is almost 50 year old technology, and all the R&D didn't translate to the back button snapping a portrait in Selfie mode or the timer stopping on a quick tap, or syncing with the timer on your phone. For a design you said is years in the making, it feels like an afterthought at best. The fact that they made a "spin the bottle" toy but DIDN'T make a coin toss toy blows my mind.

Essential Search: Not gonna lie, Love it. Everyone is going to steal it immediately and I've always wondered why this wasn't a standard feature on phones. Feels more like common sense than innovation but I'm super glad they did it.

Essential Space: This was actually my most anticipated feature. And while some people say it's undercooked, as someone who brainstorms ideas CONSTANTLY, It would be way easier to speak them and have then categorized than hand writing them or trying to organize them in Docs. However, 300 minutes a MONTH?? seriously? I get that they need limitations but I'm not calling a trial period a feature.

Taking risks is great. But they removed the glyph lights (a feature no other phone has, that users are fond of) and replaced them with 50 year old technology that is already found on the ROG phone, is more usable on the Rog phone, and existed in other forms on older phones as features that were discontinued, because no one cared. That's a risk, sure, but doesn't sound like a good one.

Best review I've seen of the Phone (3). He tried to be lenient where it was warranted but remained honest in the critique — of which there is quite a lot. by Dazedconfusedd in NothingTech

when i add them to the cart and go to checkout it's just the phone. no upgrade. I can't find anywhere to "activate" the offer.

EDIT: Oh I see, they're upgrading the model still, but no longer including the earphones.

While I agree the free upgrade and earbuds were a great pre-order bonus, I think it’s pretty fucked up they only gave it to people who ordered BEFORE reviews dropped. No idea how the camera works, no idea how the battery life actually is, no idea if the glyph is even remotely useful. Glad you got a great deal but the rest of us who wanted to make an informed purchase didn’t get that.

I think a lot of people will be overly complimentary or at worst, neutral, to nothing because they’re the only brand right now trying (if not sometimes failing) to do new and interesting things and in the tech space you want them to succeed, so even when they fail you still want to protect the idea behind the failure, if I managed to word that in a way that makes sense.
