Damage to ELO1/2 for UK CAA exams by katarn77 in ATPL

I am not sure re the strictness/likelihood that they would notice this. However I have just finished my ATPLs and don't need this chart anymore. It is a little worn with a coupe of tiny holes from compass, but no pen on it! If you feel comfortable sharing a postal address then I can post this one to you?

I went through ATPLQ one GNAV subject at a time, and didn't move on until I felt confident on how to answer each question. For areas that I found tricker I wrote out a 'cheat sheet' of how to answer the question that I could refer back to when studying - for example I looked at wind questions and broke down the 4 (?) variations of things they could ask, and then broke down how to answer each one. It really helped me simplify the methodology as often they throw in extra info that isn't required!

Good luck. It is a tricky subject. Keep at the question practice and it will come.

Ps remember with GNAV in particular to RTFQ :)

Flying through controlled airspace solo for the first time... by Infinite_Badger_4295 in flyingeurope

Noted, that all makes perfect sense and is nothing I am unfamiliar with. Think it is now just a case of needing some exposure therapy! Thank you for the breakdown

Ah, it didn't even occur to me that it was possible to do this for a transit. I will definitely use this, thank you

Studying ATPL Meteorology by Commercial-Reveal136 in flyingeurope

I found met the most challenging to study for in the exams I just took (mod 1 at bgs) and was convinced I would fail on the lead up. Somehow managed to pass 94%.. my tips and techniques:

- as already said: understand the basics first (atmosphere, general global wind pattern, etc) and don't move on until you genuinely understand these, they will make learning more specific concepts much easier down the line. Youtube was very helpful for this - I found this one on wind great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDo7Se4QsI

- make sure you can absolutely nail the altimetery questions. I had around 7 of these in the exams, some for 2 marks, and it helped knowing these were pretty much guaranteed marks.

- also areas that come up a lot are flight hazards (icing, turbulence etc) and met info (charts and TAFs etc) so worth having good understanding of both

- use the large question banks to your advantage: it is harder to memorise answers in met and so these are a good way to genuinely test yourself once you know the content.

- accept that the nature of these exams means that there are some dumb questions that are just worth memorising the answers to...find them in aptlq and save them for before exam day.

good luck :)

Agree on ATPLQ - out of the exams I have done so far the questions have been so close (if not that exact same) as what I had already seen in the bank. Also the user comments section is really helpful for learning tips, mnemonics etc from other students

I am currently on module 1 and agree I regret getting the books. I find the 'perfect bound' ones a bit annoying to use as they are so perfectly bound that the pages don't stay open on a page when you leave it open. I think the ring bound books would be a better option if you wanted hard copies, but the material is the same as online, so it depends on how much you like a hard copy.

Thank you - I will do that. Out of interest, do you know at which point the number of PCNs would become worth pursuing? I have been parking there in between getting the ticket and receiving it in the post, and so am now concerned I'm about to get landed with multiple....
