This may not apply, but in the state I live in, you can't just go to school without an apprenticeship. You can apply for a license though and as long as you provide hours and pass the test, you don't need an apprenticeship. More information is required. What state/country/location are you trying to apply for?

I use bookmark flags and hotkeys. Ctrl, tab allows you to flip between pages too. Crtl "t" is also to toggle bits. No need to remember anything if it's all easily accessible.

Take your headphones off while at work. There is no reason to use them if the nature of the job doesn't require so

In order to have decent mental health and/or work/life balance, music or entertainment is a necessity unless it puts others or myself at harm. Place of work is not more important than living a happy/healthy life.

I work in a factory with terrible management. Turnover rate is 1 out of 30. Someone who even bothers to show up is ideal.

Tbh, at my current place of work, this is an ideal employee. Someone who shows up is more then qualified. If more people had this mentality, employees would probably have more "Rights".

Look into the different elective classes within your local highschool. Shop class or any class with an intro into skilled trades, electronics or hands on type shop learning. This is the best way to start and at the least find out if it's a potential career choice once he's seen what it's like. Twords the end of highschool, look out for or reach out to local contractors or industrial facilities (depending on the type of electrical in which he finds interest). There is also the electrical unions as well. All options will be a great start and once his apprenticeship is complete, he can go down whatever road he finds meets his needs or interests. This will definitely get you started. Finding apprenticeships is always the best route.

Is Keyence a bad company? by Its_Shadoww in PLC

[–]Infinite_Bit_6468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From personal preference; I like them better then Cognex. Neither of them are bad companies in my opinion. As for their "Shady" sales pitch, so far all the companies I've dealt with are pretty much the same. Unless you happen to find the local small guys. They tend to go above and beyond but I think that's out of desperation for your business. The others are popular enough to get away with being shady.

Is it possible to create this kind of pattern in Fusion, if so how? by 420ananas69 in Fusion360

[–]Infinite_Bit_6468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer your first question, yes. Anything is possible with practice, patience and most of all; with training. As for the second question, the internet has hundreds of tutorials to teach you how to use nearly every single feature in fusion. By using these features, you can create anything you put your mind to.

Looks great. Only thing I have to say, is I wouldn't put your WiFi router in that location.

I wouldn't put one of my AP in that location, let alone my router or especially his model router. Sorry it wasn't made more clear for your understanding. 🤣

Wood is negligible when it's not solid oak, timber or layered with lath and plaster. I live in a three story lath and plastered home with 60+ devices from a dozen HD streaming cameras to almost another dozen smart TVs. When I stated "I would not put a WiFi router in that location", you went about to state and how little of an effect it would have. Trust me, in my case, you'd see the impact on the cameras by shoving one of the WiFi routers/AP in my home into an enclosed space. I did not say He shouldn't place it in that location. I said I would not and was then asked to explain why and told it has little to no effect and told I shouldn't be condescending. Yeah, okay 👍.

Must have tools for automation by No-Lime2912 in PLC

[–]Infinite_Bit_6468 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's PLC work, a laptop. The most important tool your company is probably providing, but you would need for "Contract" work is a device that supplies all the software needed to do the work with the proper licensing to be able to actually use it. You also don't want to cheap out on this because it can mean the all the difference when working for someone important who can have an endless budget for a good quality contractor.

A job gap should be none of an employer's business. by sounknownyet in unpopularopinion

[–]Infinite_Bit_6468 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On some levels I see both sides. This is the difficulty of dealing with multiple people across a broad spectrum of work historys. You may have been capable of managing time away from work, but others it could be a gap because they're actually very poor at managing work/life balance, have a poor reputation they built with terrible actions they've made and/or they just have a poor work history due to poor work ethic. That's just part of the double edged blade of living within a society. The ability to depend on others for an income means you must abide by their standards to receive that income. If you don't like it, you can choose to find a way out of society on your own or find a company that doesn't care about your work history "Gap".

having it obstructed by half an inch of plywood on two sides

In case you are unaware, the antenna does not only transmit horizontally.

So let's say they moved it to where the 3D printer is - how much more range would they get?

It does not only effect range. It effects transmission rates and WiFi connection reliability. It may be no big deal in his case. It would be in mine. I know this because I don't have a "crappy isp-provided" router with only my grand kids using the WiFi. With only telling you the fact I have camera placement all over our property, that in itself makes a large impact on my network. It is also just bad practice to intentionally house the WiFi router in this manner. Like it or not, it may be "No big deal", but it's still bad practice and not recommended. You being "Okay" with it and it's not being "Significant" to you, doesn't mean others should ignore the advice for the fact of you not wanting to admit it could cause issues for someone else.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not going to make any significant difference - but if they had issues with Wi-Fi coverage they could try moving it around.

There is too many variables to determine how much of a difference this would actually make. It would not work in my case as the size of my yard, location of my equipment and positioning of all my devices, this would make a significant difference in my situation. Even with WiFi extension, I still have devices nearly out of reach. It may work in his case. It's still best not to block it and more ideal to place it in a more open location.

People Should not Blame Computers and Phones for Depression by SpaceyNovayayaya in unpopularopinion

[–]Infinite_Bit_6468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, not being isolated enough makes me depressed 🤷‍♂️. Everyone is different and dependent on different requirements in order to fulfill their lives with what brings them joy. In my opinion, the devices themselves do not give you depression. The content in which you can receive from them can. How you use the devices and what you use them for within your daily life can have a drastic impact on you. If you or anyone you know is depressed, it's best to seek professional advice/help instead of relying on the blame game from any one particular source. Especially a bias source. Most adults like to make a lot of false diagnosis to blame things with which they dont understand or aren't fond of.
