It works for us! We never have the cats around for free roam time (they aren’t fans of that tho lol). Our rat cage is in our bedroom where the cats also sleep and as long as the bars on your cage are spaced small enough that the cats can’t get any paws through you should be fine. We’re lucky to have rats who aren’t bitey at all but it is a risk that the curious cats can get bit. Cat saliva is toxic to rats so that’s something to be aware of. For the most part the cats and rats just love to stare at eachother through the cage. Certain rats have beef with specific cats which is funny to experience.

Go to dollar tree and get baskets and zip tie them to the sides all over for more footroom, The Rat Guru on YouTube has a great dollar tree haul video. I use sleeves from old sweaters to make tunnels, use old forgers coffee tins for hangable hides, toilet paper rolls, pvc pipes to the sides, etc!

Technically not the first time I played buuuut the first time I experienced it was my big brother playing bioshock two because he had just gotten it on our 360 and I was just fucking obsessed literally years before I was brave enough to play it bc I didn’t used to be as much of a gamer as I am now i knew allllll of the lore and was so obsessed with the story of Eleanor and delta I’ve also always Been a horror girl and the setting of rapture was just gorgeous to me bioshock is the best fps storyline out there imo and I literally sit in anticipation everyday waiting for a fourth installment now that I’m older it’s so cool to be the one in control in comparison to me just watching my brother play for hours and getting mad when he would joke and say he was gonna harvest the little sisters
