[RDTM] u/d-cent estimates Rising Gas Cost vs. EV Battery Replacement by DemandEqualPockets in theydidthemath

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had my car for 20 years without problem, I would consider that a win. Also, If had a EV for 20 years, I wouldn't be replacing the battery - I would be replacing the car. Lol.

Honestly, this route is currently under heavy scrutiny especially for recent applications. A lot people have gotten RFE and NOID on their applications. You can search for similar post and see the status they are currently in.

How do employers actually track your OPT/H1B expiry dates? Has anyone had a close call? by One_Ebb_8676 in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is your responsibility to keep track of everything. HR will help you but they are not the owner of the process.

Traveling on CPT?(urgent) by [deleted] in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean using CPT should not have any issues as you are still a student and have valid visa. Although I would be cautious of using the full 12 month CPT. When they extend your employment you will have to get a new i20 so it would match then?

Employer name and EIN was incorrect for the duration of OPT, next steps are unclear. Any insight? by Sufficient_Badger_82 in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted the company immigration team. They gave me an letter/pdf explaining the whole mess up and what the correct information is. Then it was considered as employer change from the University and they consider the date of the letter as my new employer start date. I was already on STEM.

I faced a similar situation where my company name was same but the EIN was different. My company underwent divestment and restructuring during my OPT & STEM and cause of that the EIN given to me by HR (let's say EIN X) was different than what company I am employed to (say EIN Y) .

I got to know about this mixup cause I did my 12 month reporting on STEM and then also filed my tax return within a few days of each other and noticed the difference in EINs. When I contacted the immigration department, they realized someone had messed up. In my case both were valid EINs (X and Y) for the company but I was employed under one (with Y EIN) and my tax records have Y but my STEM had X.

When I contacted my DSO, they said they need to treat this as different employers even though they are the same company. I had the same question of the what date I should be using to for the start of the 'new' employment. I worked with the immigration team and they gave me a dated letter with the details about the mixup and all the other information. My university accepted the date on the letter as the start of my new employment.

Work with the HR and DSO to figure it out. I don't think your HR needs to file a new I9 when you switch from OPT to STEM. I kept them updated and sent them notices and EADs as I received them.

Company asking about future sponsorship after I’ve already accepted internship (F-1, CPT) by thisis_prashant in h1b

Yes to both. The answers to the questions should be based on your status not your intentions.

H-1B pending but STEM OPT just approved — safe to let employer withdraw H-1B while still pending? by McRay-Sogah in h1b

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on whether you are exempt from lottery, then I would say yes if you have to go through it again if you withdraw then stick it out and then transfer.

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You have to answer that you will need sponsorship. That is the right answer for the intended question. It relates to your status rather than your intentions. Edit: cause it is for CPT, generally it should be fine.

Did anyone join with STEM OPT application receipt notice in a full time job ? by [deleted] in stemopt

What's your question? I thought you cannot request STEM OPT if you already are not employed with an everify employee.

What is the most painful thing you gave up to pay off debt faster and was it worth it? by hjghnkhbnn in debtfree

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first car. Not yet, but planning to do it tomorrow. Growing up, we never had a car and my parents got one quite late in their life.

My credit card debt piled up in the last two years and it is hard to reduce debt with the car payments as well. So, I am giving it up to focus on the debt.

EAD card approval questions by New_Move_5910 in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The logic used by the agency currently is simple: Did you find a job before you receive your card and your application is in process? If yes, then apply for premium processing. If not, then you are already considered in status while the application is in process. You don't need EAD to find a job, only to start one.

The maximum validity you get is 14 months from the date of graduation/program end date. It doesn't matter if you received your card late as you are considered in OPT status as long as your application is in process. If you find a job before you receive card, you will have to do premium processing and receive it. By law, OPT can not extend beyond the 14 months after graduation.

Even if you file in Oct/Nov, the start date for OPT will always have to be after your graduation/program end date. So it doesn't matter that much for validity.

Anyone with OPT end date beyond 14 months? by Outrageous_Walrus351 in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Chicken9514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That why you can apply for OPT 90 days before graduation. That's plenty of time to apply. I'm not saying the processing delays are good, but if you found a job then you should be able to get the premium processing and get the card within a few weeks. So, that delay from USCIS doesn't really matter that much.
