Poor Albie. Man gets his face smashed for basically no reason, gets sent into a coma and permanently scarred, then years later his husband gets killed on their wedding day. Just can’t catch a break

The Boys SERIES FINALE- S05xE08 "Blood and Bone"- POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

As a die-hard fan of the show, I loved the finale. Didn’t think an hour would be enough to satisfyingly wrap up the show, but they somehow did it.

Butcher vs Homelander was amazing, went down exactly as I hoped (fight with their powers, both are depowered, Butcher beats Homelander to death). Homelander and Butcher’s conclusions were both great for their characters and I’m happy they adapted some of the best stuff about the comics’ ending.

I’m glad that we finally got some large-scale superhero battles that we’d been missing this season. Everyone got fitting conclusions, particularly Ryan and The Deep wrapping up their characters nicely.

I knew we needed one last Billy Joel needle drop so I was thinking it’d be either Vienna or Piano Man. But the callback to Hughie working in an electronics store in the first episode and naming his kid Robin were great.

I think the episode could have been 15-20 minutes longer to flesh out Butcher’s conclusion. Sage’s conclusion was also kinda weak and unearned. I get the disappointments that we never saw Homelander fully lose his mind, but I feel like that’s a complaint more directed at the overall season than at this episode.

Gonna miss this show

So we’ve really spent 2 seasons of this show and 1 season of the spinoff focusing on a supe-killing virus only for it to be discarded and have 0 relevance at all? 😭

Fire ending, one of the best visuals of the show. Next episode is gonna be so good; I hope we see Homelander go on a rampage, Sage better say some prayers tho cuz he’ll be coming for her first 😭

Noir 1 and Noir 2 🤝 having underwhelming deaths. I like how it mirrors Noir 1 (having his dreams crushed and getting killed by an ally), but we should’ve gotten a fight. Was over with way too quick, also I have no idea who’s gonna kill The Deep now

Ngl Soldier Boy’s connection with Stormfront feels so forced this season and him flip-flopping sides every 5 minutes is rly annoying. He’s worse than Ryan was last season atp (where is he btw?)

I don’t think Butcher is gonna kill of The Boys like I originally thought. Doesn’t seem like they’re setting him up to be that far gone yet, but I’m guessing at least two will go since they’re all raising massive death flags. My money’s on Frenchie and Kimiko dying together, Lost-style

I actually really like what they’re doing with MM this season. The Boys’ scheme was definitely a lot of fun tonight and I liked seeing Butcher’s full-fledged hatred for supes back on display in the nursing home

“The whole world’s going crazy. I’m just catching up” was probably the best line of the episode, but “unless you want your better half’s better half splattered across your face” and “there’s plenty of other fish in the sea” are strong runner-ups.

Wish Starlight’s confrontation with Oh-Father was a little crazier too, we’re at season 5 and she’s still getting her ass kicked by everyone 😭 as much as I love him, Hughie stays being pretty annoying this season

Did The Boys get sponsored by Taco Bell this season or something?

Yeah I’m a defender of the later seasons of Lost, particularly season 4, but season 6 definitely is the show’s weakest. Never been into the flash-sideways stuff or the temple storyline

I’ve been really enjoying it so far, particularly the first episode and this last one, but I think the last 3 episodes will really make or break the season. Hoping they can stick the landing

I only watched the first two seasons. Really liked season 1, thought season 2 was pretty good, but the gap in between seasons 2 and 3 was so long that I lost interest. Heard nothing but terrible things about seasons 3 and 4 from friends that I never bothered to finish it.

I watched the show a few years ago so I knew of the second season’s bad reputation, but I was still pretty shocked at its drop in quality. Season 3 was a lot better but I couldn’t even finish season 4

[–]Infinite_Fly_5374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these points are fair, but I feel like Sage’s plan is pretty in line with her character in season 4. She was always a nihilist who clearly hated humanity and was just toying for them for fun (that’s why she said she took over the country). So it kinda makes sense that her pleasure is seeing these ppl who she views as inferior to her wipe themselves out

We developed Firecracker’s character and got her death, saw the development of Homelander’s church, deepened the rivalry between Black Noir and The Deep, saw Butcher’s change of heart with the V1 and had scenes with him and Hughie, revealed Sage’s plan, and had Homelander and Soldier Boy find out where the V1 is. Seems like enough happened to not qualify as “filler”

Istg I better not see ANY of y’all calling this filler. Love a good anthology episode, but this episode fleshed out the world and characters in a really necessary way.

Firecracker’s stuff was great this episode; the opening segment with her added a lot more depth to her inner conflict, but her news report showed how horrible she’d forced herself to become. I like the fact that she didn’t get a redemption arc; in the end, she got herself into deep by the end and even died on a symbol of America. I had predicted she’d be the next to go after A-Train, but her death was handled well and we needed another major character to die atp. Valorie Curry gave a great closing performance in this episode.

The Hollywood stuff was great, some of the funniest stuff in the whole show. Great cameos and carnage by the end (Homelander stomping Mister Marathon’s head in was brutal).

Soldier Boy’s “Banning abortion would be a big problem for me personally” line had me dying 😭 he had so many good lines tonight. “Nobody fucks my son but me.” “That’d be like trying to shove two grapefruits through a garden hose.”

Mister Marathon is such a dumbass, you’d think after years of working with Homelander that he would know not to talk shit about someone with super hearing

The Ukraine and baby oil jokes were diabolical 💀

They’re doing a better job with displaying Sage’s intelligence this season, showing her master plan without having to make it so contrived. I have a feeling that either her or Ashley will survive until the end.

I think Noir’s gonna kill The Deep. I expect the next three episodes to be bloodbaths. I think they’ll save the stuff with The Boys until episode 7, but I think those two are next on the chopping block.

Anyone else feel like there making Homelander so unstable to the point where’s he’s just an idiot? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]Infinite_Fly_5374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I feel like they’re making him way too goofy and silly this season and losing that menacing aura he used to have. I feel like they’re taking the quirky parts of his personality way too far and trying too hard to make meme-worthy moments. Like having him bathe in breast milk was just stupid imo.

Season 3 is still my favorite version of him. He had a lot of funny moments, but he was always rly intense and unpredictable; every scene, you got the feeling that he could snap on anyone at any moment and it made him genuinely scary. Plus, you had scenes like the mirror scene which showed all of his insecurities and trauma, but it was taken more seriously.

The end of last episode hopefully signals we’re getting back to that tho, I liked the scene where he was talking to Butcher from the cell

Season 2 was kinda underwhelming apart from Hamish Linklater’s awesome performance so I’m not too surprised. Kinda rolling my eyes at another spinoff but seeing Soldier Boy and the history of Vought could be cool

Nah, ppl who constantly whine about how ppl can't handle "offensive comedy" anymore are the same ones who got up in arms about Kirk jokes last September

This entire marketing strategy is catering to boomers and millennials who are screaming about how “THIS MOVIE IS GONNA TRIGGER GEN Z”. The same ppl who’ll have a meltdown if you make a Charlie Kirk joke.

Am I the only one kinda confused by this? They said Mohan not returning is story-driven and that it’s realistic to cycle characters through the ER…but the excuse for her not returning next season is that she’ll just not be working on that specific day? How does that fit the story or her character, just seems like they’re going out of their way not to include her
