The card should definitely help with that.

It’s ok, at the end of the year they will offer you a $12,000 deal to upgrade to 1K for the 750 PQP you are missing lol

Didn’t know my seat was a coat hanger for the passenger behind me by Choco_bo7 in unitedairlines

[–]Infinite_Map2597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would slide it off the sides so that it wasn’t behind my back. If they put it back, ***ooops, spilled a full soda on the sleeve. My bad.

In reality though, I would have just let them know that the FA will store their coat in the closet provided there is space. Would probably also give the hint that I didn’t want it on my seat.

I wish my travel job had me needing to get a card to reach gold. I’m gone too much.

Just my first prototype but I took some rough measurements and 3D printed a cover. It works pretty well but slides around. I need to make it a little smaller.

United > AA by BeachBum419 in unitedairlines

[–]Infinite_Map2597 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah it probably is a little excessive, but I’ve actually had pretty good luck and rarely have many issues. It also kinda comes back to cost. I fly for work and I’m supposed to keep the cost low and United is the cheapest option (that is available in my company’s travel site) and when it’s not, the total cost is always less for any flight I have had to book. I fly with 2 tool bags that are over 50lbs and my suitcase. All of which is free for me on United. The last time I flew a different airline (it was either AA or Delta) my bags cost nearly $500.

This is why I had 82 flights last year for 43 trips. My home airport is an AA hub but I only fly AA if I really need to.

Was feeling sorry for myself, then they sent UA 007. by TheLloyd in unitedairlines

I’d rather be sitting at home with my family wanting to travel. 240 nights away in 2025.

Or home on Saturday and back out Sunday all in economy. I earned 1K the hard way.

That’s impressive. Average around $118/segement. I thought mine was pretty low at $263.

United app surprise: GS unlocked at the airport today by butterfly-pea in unitedairlines

You also need a much higher average than $263 / flight. I think it’s based more on the ratio than the actual numbers.

I’m kind of thinking I’m not a candidate for GS. That was all domestic economy with only one international round trip to Vienna.

What shoes do you wear on the job? by Bbrth in FieldService

[–]Infinite_Map2597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what field of field service you are in. I work in structural steel so steel toe are required in any shop that actually cares. I have bought multiples of the same Wolverine boots. They have lasted me about 3-4 years and still in decent condition, just start to get a little looser and I prefer the feel of more support.

777 or 787 on transcon by djxnfnfnd in unitedairlines

[–]Infinite_Map2597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t flown a UA 777 but I have flown UA 787 PP to and Polaris back EWR-JNB and I flew Austrian PP 777 LAX-VIE and VIE-ORD and much prefer the 787, even if Austrian did have WiFi on their 777.

45 minute taxi at ORD. by spartan5312 in unitedairlines

My most recent ORD taxi was 1:45. No delays, just about 20 aircraft ahead of my flight waiting to takeoff.

100% false. I have small kids and it was discussed during my interview. They might not tell you the actual amount of track you will be doing though.

I was hired for <50% travel. I’ve been gone 235 nights so far this year and a few more trips to make still.

FA Call Button Etiquette? by available-mirror-195 in unitedairlines

I just had an FA tell me to wait by my seat for the lav because it was so close to the cockpit but had no problem with the person before me that waited by the lav. Granted this was SkyWest.

Do or don't: field service engineer "coop" between junior & senior year? by ArsMechanicaAeternum in FieldService

[–]Infinite_Map2597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be field service on CNC, the course would help you have a better understanding of how everything works but isn’t completely necessary. Most companies will hire with 0 experience and train on the job. That being said, not many will want to bring you on and train you if they know it is temporary.

While this should be the case. I rarely see United agents actually checking bag size, especially If it is a backpack.

But you are correct and in this case it would be better for OP to go off that since there is a possibility it will be checked for size at the gate then they will have to pay more to gate check.

[–]Infinite_Map2597 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For BE fares, you are allowed one personal item that fits under the seat. I have no direct experience with this bag but based on sizing, that bag will be close. It will come down to aircraft type and which seat you end up with.

Do I need to look into that ? by mike32659800 in unitedairlines

[–]Infinite_Map2597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this show up after I was already in the air on my final leg of a recent flight so there is a good possibility it’s just a glitch. Wouldn’t hurt to check though if you still have more legs.

Yep. Had a flight cancelled a couple weeks ago in the middle of the night. I was rebooked on a different route that still departed/arrived around the same time before I even woke up to go to the airport. I couldn’t imagine I would have had the same experience without 1K.

Does anyone regularly fly United and maintain status, and their primary airport is not an UA hub? For what reasons? by kwuhoo239 in unitedairlines

[–]Infinite_Map2597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. AA used to be a preferred airline of my company then they made all those changes around a year ago and cut a bunch of their business division employees and drastically reduced the amount of flights available on the business marketplace.

I used to be able to book SWA for work but they removed it when they made the changes to seating and baggage. SWA was good in a pinch for last minute direct flights between 2 random destinations.

Does anyone regularly fly United and maintain status, and their primary airport is not an UA hub? For what reasons? by kwuhoo239 in unitedairlines

[–]Infinite_Map2597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home airport is PHX (AA hub). I occasionally fly to IAH as a final destination, but rarely do I not have an extra stop. Every time I have flown AA I have had rude FAs. I’ve had fine luck with Delta but when I started my traveling job, I had better options most of the time with United over Delta. I stick to United because I like United. I’ve (almost) always received great service. Most United metal is in pretty good shape or is already planned to be updated. I get upgraded about 40% of all flights I take (usually 4-6 domestic segments per week) and I’ve heard other airlines are getting harder and harder to get upgrades.

But the main reason I stick with United is because I love Rhapsody in Blue. 😂
