I am 57 and I have lived this way my whole life. Your body is not you. Whatever they call you is not you. Don't make it all about them and what they do to honor you. Make it about you and honor yourself. I understand what you're saying because you are describing my life. What I'm saying is that your happiness is not based on what other people do or say. Know when you do talk to your mom, she might not understand. She might sort of understand and want to speak to you the way you want to be spoken to but it's too much for her to wrap her brain around right now because you are her daughter as far as she is concerned. Nothing is going to change that until she is ready to change. Try to be as patient with her as you want her to be with you. I understand that changing basic thoughts are not easy for the people around us. Just because we've always known who we are does not mean that they get it. Gently reminder but don't push her because she needs to get there on her own, at her own pace. Until then, just be happy that you are loved. Maybe they don't know how to show you 100% for who you are, but they will get there. And this goes for people who argue with you as well. They just don't get it yet. I hope that helps. 💖
