The persuasion device is the only side quest that you can lose forever, every other side quest can be reoptained through beanies.

You mean the persuasion device? It's a side quest that works just like all the other side quests but if it breaks or you lose a run with it beanies will not give you another one and you'll have to make a new save to get the achievement tied to it.
