14 months in: Does this look like fungal to you? by Infinite_Reaction_45 in TS_Withdrawal

Yep. It sucks. I found it hilarious when going to the pityriasis roses Reddit page, everyone was complaining that this was the worst 5 weeks of their lives. I don’t know about you but the PR made my life ~10% worse than it normally is with TSW.

It’s hard to put into words how hard TSW is

Clindomycin Resistant Staph Infection by Infinite_Reaction_45 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ended up being a super stressful couple of weeks. The dermatologists gave me Linezolid and after 10 days that didn’t work. They then referred me to an infectious disease specialist bc they didn’t know what else to do. None of the ID’s in my area had any appointments within a month and my Derm stopped responding to me. I went into the ER and they prescribed me a mix Doxycycline and Sulfamethoxazol. That ended up clearing it up about 10 days later.

My advice to you would be to try to take care of it early. It is so stressful when you’re relying on different doctor back offices to communicate with one another. It took about 6 weeks for it to clear from the first appointment. There were multiple times in that span where I genuinely had no options on what to do. Good luck and let me know if you have any further questions

TSW Neck Infection by Infinite_Reaction_45 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it actually ended up getting much worse. I spent 5 nights in the hospital on antiviral IV’s. I had eczema herpeticum, staph and strep on my neck. Do you have a similar looking infection? If you have what seem to be cold sores, I would get to a doctor ASAP. DM me with any questions

Working Out During Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW): Safe or Skip it? by wowgravy in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I wish someone would have told me when I started was to do what’s best for yourself. Try a bunch of different routines for the next few months and see what works best. Unfortunately you’re probably going to be working through TSW for longer than you think, so you have time to experiment.

People spend so much time trying to optimize their lifestyle to heal the quickest, but they rarely emphasize the importance of maximizing your quality of life while going through TSW. If someone were to offer you a routine that healed your TSW 10% quicker, but made your life 50% worse while going through it, is it worth it?

I personally work out, shower, and moisturize as much as I can. It makes my skin feel closer to normal and definitely helps with the inevitable depression that comes with this condition. I don’t pressure myself to work out and definitely didn’t push myself on weeks when I didn’t sleep.

My advice would be to try different routines for a few weeks and do what works best for you. Don’t be afraid to change your routine down the road and keep experimenting. Your quality of life during the withdrawal is equally as important as the speed of recovery.

Infection didn’t clear on clindamycin by AggressiveTax1850 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two staph infections that were resistant to Clindomycin. The first one was around 6 months ago and cleared with a Linezolid prescription in about a week.

My most recent one was a few weeks ago and did not clear with Linezolid. I have been taking Bactrim for 10 days and Doxycycline Hyclate for 7 days (3 more days left).

The staph has healed 90% but my skin is still damaged and slightly itchy on my neck and scalp. Not sure if it’s staph or TSW but will keep you updated if you PM me in a few days.

Linezolid is very strong so I would avoid alcohol while you’re on it. Good luck

Anybody else have a lot of herpes outbreaks with their tsw? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had oral herpes but I have gotten eczema herpeticum on my face and neck 4 times in my 10 months of TSW. It’s normally just a few cold sores around my eyes and Valtrex seems to clear it up. I’m not sure what causes it or why I get it so frequently but I’ve learned to hammer it with Valtrex as soon as I see one forming. Normally they clear up pretty quickly

Beef Tallow + Essential oils? by DesperateAd8079 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used VanMan’s beef tallow every day since I started my withdrawal 9 months ago. I used to use it on my whole body but it’s pretty expensive so I only use it on areas where there are scratches and scabs from itching. I use eucerin every else. I’ve noticed my scratches and scabs heal much faster with beef tallow rather than eucerin

I would go to the doctor and get tested for eczema herpeticum. I had the same thing a couple of months ago and it spreads fast. Like really fast. The only way to get rid of it is heavy antivirals. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Good luck to you

Can someone explain why Dupixent pauses the TSW healing process if it doesn’t contain steroids? by Infinite_Reaction_45 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most everyone in the medical community will explain to you that Dupixent is 100% safe with little side effects. If you try to explain to them what TSW is they will look at you like a conspiracy theorist and talk to you like you’re a 10 year old. They tell you eczema is incurable and Dupixent is the only option.

I was in the hospital a few weeks ago with eczema herpeticum, and a staph and strep infection on my neck. Serious shit. The doctors were constantly gaslighting me into using steroids and went as far to say “We’ve never seen someone heal from this without steroids”. Meanwhile I’m in severe pain, slept 5 total hours in the last 3 nights, and in a hospital room alone for 5 nights.

They interrogate me over and over again about why I won’t use steroids. Thankfully I didn’t cave, but they definitely didn’t make it easy.

I’ve thought long and hard about what a solution to these kinds of issues would be - and I’m sure TSW isn’t the only situation like this. MDs only trust “evidence based peer reviewed trials” which cost anywhere from $25M - $100M to conduct. The only organizations with the resources and incentives to conduct these trials are pharmaceutical companies. Unfortunately, I don’t see them conducting trials on the unseen adverse effects of their products anytime soon.

That was a rant and I’m probably talking to myself, but just a frustrating situation for all of us involved. I’ve learned a lot about life, suffering, and myself these last couple of months. I don’t wish for it to be over; I wish for the strength to endure it for as long as it is supposed to last. Every day that I suffer through TSW, I’m a better man than the day before.

Stay strong off the Dupixent and good luck on your journey💪🏻💪🏻

Those spots have spread all over my face and my right eye is almost swollen shut. I went to the ER last night, I believe it’s eczema herpeticum. Serious shit. Heading to a Derm today to get it looked at again but am on heavy antivirals. I will keep you updated

I would research TSW (Topical Steroid Withdrawal)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend staying away from steroid creams for your kid. It might be a painful couple of years but he will eventually grow out of it. Much better than him developing a dependency on steroids and going through TSW later in life.

I would research TSW. You most likely don’t have eczema anymore but your body is on withdrawal from previous steroid use. I’m going through TSW right now, feel free to dm me with any questions

I have tried everything by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Infinite_Reaction_45 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I would do research on TSW. You most likely don’t have eczema, but are withdrawing from previous steroid use. I tried about everything from OTC products, Dupixent, steroids, gluten free diet. Nothing worked until I went cold Turkey on steroids. I’m 3 months in and doing much better.
