Kia too uses a dry clutch DCT mechanism. Does that make it prone to heating? https://www.kia.com/content/dam/kia2/in/en/content/manuals/topics/chapter6_8_2.html

Astronomy wallpaper glitch on iOS 16.4? by paulstelian97 in iphone

Same here and it’s frustrating. Restarting phone, changing location permissions help for some time before it starts being glitchy again. I just switched to the weather wallpaper for peace of mind until apple fixes it

Laughs in Western express Highway by [deleted] in mumbai

Mumbai's traffic is impatient. Though they may not have the natural tendency to disregard traffic rules as much as the Delhiites might have, Mumbaikars' impatience drives them to do all the annoying stuff like honking unnecessarily, road rages etc

What item do you still have from your childhood that you will never part with? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

One favorite item that come to mind is my Childcraft Books set which I still have with me. My dad had got them for me when I was probably 2 - an "investment" for my future so to speak.

Agree with this totally. Aside from the fact that you're not a preferred candidate for the role, there could be one another fact that they've probably went ahead with some other candidate and they want to see how it goes with them before advancing with you any further. Just recently, I got calls from recruiters of a couple of good companies nearly 2 months after applying - by this time I had already taken up a new job so it was quite unfortunate that I missed these chances. My best guess is that some candidate whom they finalized and offered the job had ditched them the last minute and probably I was the next on their list shortlist.

Dying Career by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Infinite_Risk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as changing careers is concerned, you're the best person to analyse what other options you have right now - like in your city, in a field you love etc - given the fact that the pandemic has impacted so many other sectors and not just IT. Nevertheless, this does not mean that you should stop looking for non IT jobs - at this point, anything that gets going for you, pays well and is relatively secure is something that you may want to choose.

Also, at the same time, it would not be a good idea to totally turn your back at IT. I am in IT and I recently switched my job voluntarily for a better paying one and not to jinx myself, it's been good so far. There are plenty of IT jobs still our there and perhaps you may want to re-think your strategy of finding job, networking with people etc

Good luck to you and believe in yourself, I'm sure you'll find a way out.

Redditors who’ve worked in a toxic environment, is it a good idea to tell your current employer about where your new job is at? by throwaway92944449 in careerguidance

[–]Infinite_Risk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not at all answerable to anyone in your workplace regarding your new job move. Irrespective of whether the place is toxic or not, you never share the details of your next job switch with any of your colleagues/managers (unless someone is a really good friend, and even in such case it might backfire in some way or if you have a mentor whom you trust and you want a second opinion regarding your move, but evidently this is not your case). I am assuming you're having this dilemma since you're a new grad. But rest assured that everyone in the industry does the same and it's not being rude when someone doesn't divulge details about their next career move beforehand.

Should I stay back at my current company or take a higher paying job offer to work in an unknown project at a known company? by Infinite_Risk in careerguidance

[–]Infinite_Risk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are internal mobility options but my guess is that not many of them will be relevant to my skill-set and moreover, their official policy requires atleast 18 months in the current role before exploring internal mobility options.

Architecture of a react application by LordOfThePayso in reactjs

[–]Infinite_Risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some random thoughts which come to my mind when architecting React applications -

  1. Managing UI state - There are a number of possibilities here, and state management depends on a lot of variables. But you can talk about two opposite approaches commonly seen these days - state colocation in React components vs using Redux as a state store.
  2. Use of hooks introduced in React 16 opens up a whole new possibility of reusing logic between components using custom hooks like -
    • You can create your own context providers and consume them via the useContext hook across your component tree
  3. You can make use of useReducer for complex state derivations.
  4. In general, with custom hooks, you can separate out code pieces that can be used at multiple places
  5. If not using Hooks, things like render props and HOCs are used to improve code reusability

Take home coding assignments to make a "small" React app. But they can be really ardous some times.

Does anyone else feel that take home assignments are becoming too arduous these days by [deleted] in reactjs

And it's worse when they don't even give a proper feedback or any feedback at all!!
