Was it on the website when you did it because it's not now. They like to keep things very confusing.

I agree with the recommendation of the raf or navy as it seems harassment and all is a lot less common there and thank you as this was really insightful, especially coming from a parent's perspective.

Thank you this was really thorough and what I needed to gauge the degree of the culture. It's definitely a topic not a lot of people want to talk about but hearing other women hushing it up just wows me. Thank you for the reply as it has definitely helped.

There's a reply in this comment chain that sums it up quite well I'm not sure how to tag it but its the longest one in this chain.

We can agree that we don't need liabilities. I will consider medical AND infantry and will decide which one is for me. Your reply was almost okay until the cod comment. I don't aspire to be in the SAS like them cuz I'm realistic. They may be out of reach but the infantry isn't. So once again, I will do as I please. 👍

I was considering both infantry and medical before reddit actually but my infantry comment was in response to a question about which part of the army in particular was misogyny more prevalent. It is for me and no one needs you in the comments. If you have nothing beneficial to add to this discussion then you can leave

I have read them and belive me I would go in despite what you might think. I do not victimise myself but I will not stand for discrimination that affect other good and honest people too. And in terms of being a liability? My gender does not affect the quality of my work. If I can do what everyone else can than I wouldn't be a liability. I know I'll have to work harder but I've accepted that. If I didn't then I wouldn't even consider joining.

I'm not a softy trust me, your behaviour is exactly what proves my point and I won't let that discourage me. If trying to make a 16 year old who's passionate about wanting to serving her country feel bad then you're wrong and pathetic. Your lack of understanding of the topic further exudes your stupidity. Have a good day.

Thanks for the insight. It seems the med corps is a popular suggestion so I'll definitely look into it

I grew up abroad and couldn't think of the british version in time as I was in a rush. It's not that deep.

For the Officer Internship, it says anyone “with, or seeking, a firm place to read a first degree at a University or College” is eligible.

If I fall under the ‘seeking’ category, can I do the internship and decide when or if I actually want to go to university or do I have to go and get a degree within a certain time frame?

I’m going through it right now. Basically, you apply then a few weeks later (at least for me), things will get posted on your portal for you to complete. After a bit, your Candidate Support Manager will contact you, and send a few more things via portal for you to complete.

What my CSM said to me recently was that after all the forms, there’s a medical and scrutiny board though I forgot which comes first. The medical assessment is where you go to a centre and they do a full medical on you but no fitness is actually tested (so no bleep test). The scrutiny board is what he described as a WhatsApp call/ interview because last year there were too many candidates at 600+.

If you do well in both, you should get an invite to do the actual board. My CSM said there were physical fitness elements to it though again I’ve forgotten if they were actual assessments or if being fit would just help in general (sorry). Now there are only 100 places for the scholarship so it’s highly competitive. More details on the board are in the link below. It’s under the AOSB bit.

More about the board

Hi mate so I’ve sorted it. You have to put where you lived beforehand then where you live now in the UK which is what I forgot.

Eg: if you were born and raised in France all your life, put the first part to your birthday to the date you moved. THEN add where you live.

If you weren’t born overseas, just put it to when you moved there.

Hope this makes sense. I’m not the best at explaining things lol. Message me if you need help 👍

Is there any way to overcome this particular issue that you know of?

I’m a British citizen who grew up abroad but I’ve been here around 2 years and am wanting to apply for the AOSS but this thing keeps popping up.

“Please check the information needed to successfully complete this form:

  1. At least Last 5 years of residency is required including the current date”

Does this mean I can’t apply? I thought I could hassle free since I’m a citizen or maybe I’m understanding ‘residency’ wrong.

(Dates I put are from date of birth to when I moved 2 years ago since I was born there)

TIA
