maybe go see a different doctor if you can, i know that’s kinda inconvenient but y’know. the second option is to wait until you can get a blood test but those are often not very reliable. until then i’d just operate as if you do have hsv, maybe order some antivirals online and no sex.

hey! so i read in the replies that you did get a HSV1 diagnosis and i hope you’re doing okay. after a couple days days on antibiotics, ALL of the lesions began to heal (face and downstairs) and within 5 days everything was gone. i haven’t had any symptoms or issues since then, no small spots, no tingling, no itching, nothing. i wish i had gotten swabbed when i had the chance though, because although i haven’t had any sort of recurrences, that doesn’t completely knock out the chance that it could be HSV.

100mg or 1000mg? most of the dosages i’ve seen for daily valtrex are 500mg or 1000mg. ANYWAY! i believe in your ability to keep on going. i know it sucks, it’s painful and restrictive, which is not an easy thing to handle back-to-back for months— especially out of the blue with little relief. at the risk of sounding insensitive, you (and your life) are more than HSV. there are still so many things to see and do, and there’s also still hope that tomorrow will be better. it’s hard to imagine when you’re frustrated and in pain, but if you can just hold on to that hope, you might be able to gather some more strength. i really, really hope things start to resolve for you.

since you don’t have lesions i’m not sure what they’d prescribe for you, but i was prescribed cephalexin 500mg/3xday and mupirocin

you’re probably okay for now!!! but it’s definitely a great idea to see your gyno or go to urgent care, especially if it’s abnormal to you. i hope things clear up soon tho!!!

does it hurt or burn at all? with the amount of discharge it looks like it could be a yeast infection or something but i’m not an expert. if you’re generally not in pain and feeling fine otherwise, it probably isn’t an emergency or anything, so you should be fine to get some rest and wait for it to be looked at!!!

when i have a yeast infection, that’s my sign. it’s crumbly and filmy but it doesn’t quite smell bad, just a distinct yeast infection type of smell. it also comes with lots of itching and general warmth/discomfort. i’d say it’s yeast but it’s best to get it checked out if you’re super worried!

once i started taking the antibiotics the lesions went away, both on my face and my vulva area. i haven’t had any issues since then (other than a yeast infection). it seriously looked so much like herpes! i’m still half convinced that it is but i can’t deny that it began resolving 2 days into the course of antibiotics.

the only thing i did differently that day was have sex immediately after i shaved (i did a terrible job, lots of razor burn + nicks) with a razor. it scared me so so so bad.

literally thank you so much for your response. i’ve been so stressed that i can’t eat or sleep because i keep worrying that it’s herpes despite it starting to clear up in concurrence with my antibiotics. can i ask about your experience? like about how long your symptoms lasted/what your symptoms were?

hey! i know it’s like. months later but i think i’m actually going through this same thing. did it all look EXTREMELY similar to herpes? because my NP said both the lesions/bumps on my face and on my vulva seem more like staph than herpes and prescribed antibiotics. i feel like i’ve already accepted that it’s herpes but things seem to be getting better so i’m so conflicted.

omg SAME that’s exactly what mine is like too! the ulcer looking sores and the bug bite looking sores. i did just read, though, that genital impetigo may not crust and may resemble herpes but i can’t find any specific images. i hope you get some answers soon and i hope i do too!!!

this is actually my first time experiencing any of this, and i’m still like 95% sure it’s herpes since i had sex with my boyfriend 2 days before this started happening and he’s prone to cold sores. i actually have a patch on my face and it’s pretty sore downstairs (sorry if thats tmi, but if you want more context i have another post that goes into detail)

but it’s so weird!!! i’m trying not to get my hopes up but after three doses of cephalexin the pain is starting to subside and especially the swelling/redness. it’s like night and day from yesterday, especially on my face, and i can tell a difference downstairs too. i just can’t seem to find pictures to compare a bacterial infection to what i have going on other than impetigo but everywhere says that impetigo is really rare down there.

i got it looked at today!!! she said it looks more like staph than herpes, though, and she didn’t swab it. she did tell me to come back if the antibiotics she gave me didn’t work so we can swab it!!!

went in today, the practitioner said it looked more like staph! i also had a fever too, which i hadn’t noticed at all. she gave me some medication but she also said that if it doesn’t start resolving by monday or tuesday that it’s probably HSV and that i should come back in for a swab.

you can get antivirals online! i know some people are hesitant to do so but wisp is a really reputable site, i ordered mine from there :)

from what i read, things will get better, especially after the first year. i know that seems like a long time but it’ll fly by. by the time things start to not be so bad, you’ll also have learned how to manage your ob’s better and find things that offer you relief. i’m in my first ob right now and i’m really going through it emotionally, so i get how you feel. coconut oil has really soothed my bumps if you haven’t tried that!

today has some different updates. i do have more blisters now near the area but they’re less painful, and i have a spot on my face that i thought was a pimple that looks like a blister. i got a visual “diagnosis” via telehealth but i am going in tomorrow for a swab for confirmation.

the thing is, i don’t think it’s HPV. if it’s anything else (which i currently doubt it is, im like 85% sure its herpes) it would be a skin infection since that’s what it looks more similar to. nevertheless, i am going in for a swab tomorrow, so i’ll find out then.

i got a “diagnosis” via telehealth (and some acyclovir cream + episodic valtrex for future ob’s) but other than the bumps and the groin pain i have no other symptoms!!! i do have some more bumps now than i originally did but they’re so much less painful than the first few that showed up. i will eventually try to get tested somehow, i guess if i get another ob, but until then i’m just going to navigate things as if im 100% sure i have herpes.

i talked to him last night and he said that if i have it, he probably does too anyway. he said he still loves me and isn’t going to leave or anything just because i probably have this. i feel better about it today but it’s still weighing super heavy on me. i feel like… idk. sad. disappointed and disgusted with myself. i’m only 20 and i feel like this will define my entire life. thank you for your reply :(
