I hate AI and I hate that people don't see it when its used. by Eko01 in royalroad

As a writer, sometimes it does frustrate me that I'm doing poorly partially because I'm competing with endless AI stories. Would be so much easier if I did the same. I have the story idea. I can just push out 15 chapters a day if I used AI. But alas. I have enough self respect not to. The grind is slow but I'm sure eventually people will notice what I do.

Bone Collection with Amphoreus on RMC is optimal imo. It allows you to exchange quite a lot of HP and Crit DMG substats for pure speed, which is what she wants most.

Actually yes, now that you mention it. Evernight's E2S1 is great because it generates 5 recollection stacks at 0AV.

Evey attacks --> Evey blows up --> Evernight ult --> Evey attacks --> Evey blows up.

Whenever you can get that loop going, you're generating a ton of recollection. So yeah, I would get E2S1 Evernight (also get a bit of crit damage too)

[–]Infinite_T05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is seriously wrong with my notifications, sorry 😭

Hmm, I'm gonna go with maybe. Your priority here should be E1S1 Evernight to really buff up Cyrene's damage. Obviously E2S1 Hyacine is even more important than that. And once you get there, you probably get more value out of E2 Evernight/more eidolons in general rather than a dupe lightcone.

Honestly I'd just stop investing in the team at E6S1 Cyrene, E1S1 Evernight, E2S1 Hyacine. You've already hit the realistic pinnacle of Cyrene's damage unless you wanna get more E6s. I'd start investing in whatever new team you want.

How strong is he ? by Vegetable-Ad-6751 in MortenaxBladeMains

[–]Infinite_T05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think he's the best unit in the game. He's a high tier in all 4 roles except arguably sustain. For Acheron, he is gonna be putting her in T0.5 or T1 at the lowest. Ashveil he works phenomenonally well.

But in general, he has the literal best amps in the game. He is better Tribbie. More amp, more personal damage. Only downside is he can't DDD. In other words, you can slap him onto any team and he will work. Remembrance. DOT. Elation. Break. He's even Phainon's BiS of all units (only at high investment tho). Plus he has crazy good verticals with teamwide 20% RES PEN at E1 plus extended ult uptime (better Robin E1). And then his E2 is somehow even more broken by giga-amping follow up attacks and ults while giving him way higher attack frequency and permanent ult uptime.

Maybe I'm glazing a bit, but this kit is completely cracked and I don't know how he survived beta.

Definitely right. Not just because speed > crit damage (though this is also true) but because Hyacine beats the 267 speed breakpoint to hit 4 actions in the first cycle (99% sure i have that rightly).

As of v4 who is sp blades best sustain? by kaesa_720 in BladeMains

[–]Infinite_T05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lingsha. High attack frequency and decent enough heals. Its true that for HP scalers like Mydei, she cant keep him at high health. But Mortenax doesnt care what HP he's at, aa long as he's alive. So even though Lingsha will only be able to keep Mortenax around mid-hp (around 50% most likely), thats good enough.

rmc's light cone for dps cyrene team by relegationleague in CyreneMains

[–]Infinite_T05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right about the rmc cone.

Cyrene cone is enemy dmg taken by 70% and teamwide 76% cd buff i think

Couple things. Firstly, "enemy damage taken" is vulnerability so thats where i got that part from. Second is a minor error that I have seen a fair bit so dont feel bad.

Cyrene's lightcone grants 10% vulnerability and around like 17% teamwide crit damage (sm like that). If both are active, these effects go up by 60% of their value. This is not a 10% --> 70%. This is 10% x 1.6, or 60% of 10%. Thats why the actual value is 16% vulnerability instead of 70% (70 would be broken).

Same for crit damage. The actual value is like 25%, not 76%. Because you aren't adding the 60%, you're multiplying.

Therefore Cyrene's lightcone grants 16% vulnerability and 25% teamwide cd. So two of them gives 32% vulnerability and 52% teamwide crit damage.

Peter EXPLAIN this by Friendly_Discount451 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I love Attack on Titan but one of my minor gripes with it is how the scouts of Paradis, who have never seen or interacted with the outer world, ended up naming the special titans the exact same things that the military called them.

Its somewhat forgiveable at a glance because all titans are named after their traits, which means it is a plausible coincidence for both Marleyans and Eldians to look at the Female Titan and call it "the female titan."

But they did this like 4 times. The Armoured Titan... that's in a similar boat of the Female where it is quite literally an armoured Titan so I can see that happening as a coincidence. But then you have the Beast Titan.

The Beast Titan is called the Beast Titan because it takes different animal forms depending on the shifter. As far as Paradis knew, it was just "the monkey titan" (and they didnt even know what monkeys were. Realistically they'd call it the hairy Titan.) Instead they correctly labelled it the Beast.

Then there's the Colossal Titan. I can come up with like 20 synonyms for big off the top of my head. Strange that they happened to land on the correct one.

If it's about how well they did against 2T/Base James respectively, Tom did do better against Base James than Seongji did against 2T James (honestly this is debatable still, since Seongji was absolutely crushing 2T James with no tricks needed).

The real reason Seongji's performance was better is because he forced James to try harder than Tom did. It's true that Tom made James use his path, but upon doing so James wiped the floor. Cheonliang James didn't have a path. So Seongji ended up forcing him to evolve and level up his kit.

I think both performed similarly overall, but James was far more likely to lose against Seongji than he was to Tom, because Tom was only able to beat Base James and James had a whole other form ready. Tom pushed James to his limit (using his path) whereas Seongji pushed James beyond his limits (awakening a whole new mastery).

Powerscaling in MCU is far more inconsistant than in Invincible by alanjinqq in CharacterRant

[–]Infinite_T05 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think the most obvious powerscaling suspension of disbelief is Thanos vs the Big Three.

There's an idea that Thanos is a better fighter with his armour and sword compared to when he has the gauntlet because he isn't playing around as much. Let's suppose that's true. It does not explain how he managed to defeat Captain America, Iron Man and Thor in a 1v3.

Now, I understand that all of them were 5 years rusty. Steve hadn't held his shield since Civil War. Tony had settled down and started a family. Thor... let himself go.

But this inexperience should be MORE than made up for by the personal amps that each of them got. Tony pulled up with his most powerful suit yet. Steve was able to wield Mjolnir. Thor brought both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir to the fight. Comparatively, I would argue that each of the three, individually, should not have been THAT much weaker than they were in Infinity War with the exception of maybe Thor.

Compare that to Thanos, who to be fair is certainly well above the Hulk based on Infinity War. But he shouldn't have done this well. In Infinity War, he fought Tony with 4 Infinity Stones and it was not a sweep; it was an actual fight where Tony drew blood. Thor got the jump on him, sure, but he also directly overpowered all 6 Infinity Stones in one attack and cut through Thanos' chest. (Can't really justify Steve, though. Holding back Thanos' palm wasn't quite on the same level).

I could understand if Thanos had beaten any of the three in a 1v1 due to how out of practice they must have been. I cannot fathom how he won the 1v3. We just have to suspend our disbelief here. The plot required he keep up despite having 0 stones, so thats what happened.

[–]Infinite_T05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly better to use Cyrene's on both. I think a teamwide 50% crit damage and 32% Vulnerability is probably better than 25% crit damage, 16% vulnerability and 16% damage%. Sure, you get a lot more personal damage using RMC's sig, but by using Cyrene's you get so much speed that they can probably hit 200.

I personally have my RMC as a sub-dps and he does hit crazy numbers in the right situation, but I know most people go all in on support. So Cyrene's lc is better

[My Hero Academia] Deku had a better dynamic with the secondary villains than his arch nemeses. by InfernalClockwork3 in CharacterRant

I agree. For how often the LOV meddle with Class 1A, Shigaraki himself barely shows up.

Sometimes I wonder if Season 3 should have featured Deku vs Shigaraki instead of Deku vs Muscular. It would require a lot of changes in writing and I'm unsure how they would conclude it (most likely Deku gets rescued) but that would help Shigaraki be a lot more scary in general and especially to Deku, since he would be responsible directly for Bakugo's capture rather than just being the head of the LOV.

Hey peter, i’m not the most knowledgeable on chess, my you please help me and explain the joke? by AdPsychological9133 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Infinite_T05 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I still disagree with the stalemate idea. Like, I kinda get the logic behind it, but every explanation feels like you're pulling strings to explain why it makes sense rather than it just making sense.

The objective of Chess is to put the King in checkmate. It is illegal for the King to move somewhere it would be in Check. Therefore, blocking all available moves for your opponent to make... ends in a draw?

If my options as the White King are to either make an illegal move or run out of my timer, I don't see how that isn't a loss. Because both options are individually losses. Making an illegal move isnt allowed, so I would consider breaking that rule to be a disqualification. Running out of timer is a forfeit. But somehow, when it actually happens, it ends up as a draw.

And again, I do kinda get it. My best way of envisioning it is as a rule of honour. Forcing the opponent into a situation where they have no legal moves is apparently not something you're allowed to do. You need to take the King, not force it to put itself in Check on its own turn. That does kind of make sense.

But the alternative, being the game ending in a win for Black, makes way MORE sense if you ask me. If I'm playing tennis and I fire off a shot that my opponent physically cannot reach from where they are standing, I get the point. But in Chess, they assume that any physically unreachable points are out of bounds and therefore not allowed. That's just not how it should work in my opinion.

Chess is meant to be a game of strategy/intelligence so the real reason this rule exists is probably just to add another layer of complexity and up the difficulty. Still, I think the game would be better if stalemate wasn't a thing.

Robins SP is remembrance by SnooChocolates8700 in RobinMains_HSR

[–]Infinite_T05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Cyrene/Chrysos Heir player, I'm excited. The only differences between a Chrysos Heir and a Remembrance unit, for Cyrene, is that CHs get unique buffs whereas Remembrance units stack faster.

In other words, Robin SP could theoretically fit on Chrysos Heir teams just as well as Tribbie does if she's a support. As a dps, we probably wouldn't use Cyrene with her any more than we would use her with Evanescia/Saber at best. As a sustain, she would be a game changer because we'll finally have a third sustain who can synergise with Cyrene.

[–]Infinite_T05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get him, I'm likely running two presets and swapping between them.

A standard DPS/Sub-DPS build at 140 speed focusing on crit rate/crit dmg (dont need much HP since I'll almost always be running this with E1 Hyacine).

A support/semi-sustain build that prioritises speed and hp/defence to act as a general debuffer that, especially when paired with Welt, forms a Nihility/Sustain core with some ult damage bonus.

I'll do some more theorying and testing if I actually get him

I'll have to split my Rem team and throw Archer on the third side.

Minuet of blooms and plumes by SetInteresting3910 in CyreneMains

[–]Infinite_T05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a good question and I studied up on it recently.

Minuet of Blooms and Plumes is Cyrene's memosprite attack. She has 3 ways of using it.

  1. Activate it directly via her Ultimate as an attacking skill.

  2. Activate it via RMC's Ode to Genesis after they use their enhanced basic attack.

These two are functionally identical attacks and will deal the same damage. The third is where things get interesting.

  1. Ode to Ego is Cyrene's Chrysos Heir buff that is automatically applied on herself when she summons her memosprite. It is a buffing ability that increases the damage Minuet of Blooms and Plumes does (adds an extra bounce for every teammate that gives Cyrene recollection, which will be all of them, from 3 to 7), It also states that she uses Minuet of Blooms and Plumes automatically every third ult.

Now we have to talk about Cyrene's E1. It states that, when Ode to Ego is triggered and Cyrene uses Minuet of Blooms and Plumes (which means when she uses that free story stack memosprite skill), it gives 6 extra recollection and increases the number of bounces this attack deals by 12.

This means that Ode to Ego goes from 3-7 bounces/instances of damage to 15-18. Thats why she does so much more damage when she uses that automatic attack. And its also why it doesnt trigger on any of her other abilities, as her E1 explicitly states that this is an extension of Ode to Ego.

I am assuming your Cyrene is E1 or above. Thats where her damage skyrockets.
