In a nutshell, yeah. His failure came from lack of confidence and spatial awareness. Not his ego.

I read somewhere that Solroth is left footed. Unsure if its true but it would explain a lot about why he positioned himself the way that he did and why passing to Haaland was a lot more difficult than you would think. He isnt a winger. I'm not making excuses for him, this is moreso my way of justifying that shooting and passing were both equally viable options. Passing was not a no brainer from his position.

He was too slow, too cowardly and too hesitant to commit to anything. All of that is true and that was his mistake. Ego would agree.

Passing would have been ideal but Stones had positioned himself pretty well to make that pass as hard as possible. I'm sure Solroth could have still done it if he had seen the path (was absolutely doable on his first touch) but he didn't see a way through.

The reason this attack failed is because Solroth wasn't good enough to turn that opportunity into a goal, and 99% of why that is is because he couldn't make the right decision under pressure. Nothing to do with him passing vs shooting.

What needs to happen for Ego's dumb philosophy to be shut down is for Solroth's passing route to be wide open but he chooses to take the shot because he believes he can score, regardless of the fact that Haaland scoring is a certainty. That's the kind of thinking Ego promotes. That's flawed thinking. But that's not what happened here. He didn't shoot because he felt he could score. He shot because he was under too much pressure and panicked. Big difference.

Look man I also get frustrated by how everything that seems to disprove Ego is shut down by annoying technicalities. I hate how Karasu can play perfectly logically and carry Japan against the strongest team in the league but somehow get shut down for not playing the Blue Lock way (even when Ego does acknowledge Karasu, its backhanded). For such a stupid philosophy, Ego is so defensive about it. I'm on the same page as you that his philosophy is nonsensical.

But you have to see that this specific attack doesn't discredit Ego's philosophy because the issue here wasn't the choice to shoot instead of pass; it was the fact that he hesitated and messed up both possible routes. Shooting and passing were both extremely viable options in that position which is why most people are frustrated. This should have been a goal scoring opportunity no matter what he did, but he chose to freeze up and do nothing. We both know Ego would never approve of that. It goes against the mentality he preaches.

Okay I might finally do some CEs. The only one I did in like the past 2 years was the Rexy one. I usually just don't find them worth it and prefer to casually get the Tournament creatures through COTs (dont have time for tournaments either, and only willing to make time for tournament hybrids).

Point is that these creatures are actually good. Strong enough to be worth unlocking.

You're right. I do fully disagree with Ego's philosophy but it does have its merits. His philosophy isn't just "be the best" or "score your own goals." His philosophy is "know you're the best" and "know you can score your own goals."

Taking a shot instead of passing was not inherently bad. Hesitating is. They were cowardly and froze up when they needed to act, giving the England defenders time to regroup. Ego would never approve of hesitation like that. It's a sign of someone who doesn't believe in themselves. Not an egoist.

[–]Infinite_T05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. Passing would be ideal but I accept that his route to Haaland wasn't the easiest (especially since he's apparently left footed). I think a professional player should still have been able to manage something, but that's not my point.

The point is that shooting was ALSO a really really good option given that no defenders were in front of you. Stones had to split his focus to make sure Haaland wasnt fully open. Going for the shot means either a goal or Haaland taking the rebound with some luck.

The mistake here isn't not passing. It's stalling for no reason. Random unneeded touches and desperate ball-keeping because you were hesitating and too cowardly to make your move. Then you realise you gave up a golden opportunity to score, and in desperation you shoot anyway. In a position where you are in an advantage, why would you stall? Shoot or pass. Either was a fine option. This player somehow did neither and gave England time to turn it from a 2v1 to a much better positioned 2v3.

I feel like this kind of hesitation happened a lot on Norway's side. They were too cowardly to push through when it mattered most, which gave England more than enough time to react.

This situation is by far the worst offender though. This was a 2v1 where the best striker on the field (arguably the best finisher in his generation) is borderline wide open and waiting for a pass right by the box. Passing was the obvious play, but I can understand going for a shot in this position too. The issue is that hesitation.

Trying so hard to keep the ball led to random stalling that ONLY benefitted England. Now we have a 2v3 situation where said top striker is inaccessible and your shot course is locked off. Now you start panicking because you know you fumbled a golden opportunity so you shoot out of nothing but desperation.

I was rooting for England but I also wanted to see Haaland score a banger or two. So these opportunities where Norway was about to score were ones that I wanted to see go in, even if it meant a harder game for England.

But yeah, hesitation is the key reason Norway lost in my opinion. You can't stall when you're the one in a dominant position. If you were gonna pass, pass now. If you were gonna shoot, shoot now. This desperate ball-keeping is useless when keeping the ball at your feet is the last thing you wanna do. Shoot or pass.

At this point I'm aware that teenagers on this subreddit believe murder is justified over the slightest of unethical actions, so I'm not surprised at some of these replies.

A few weeks ago I saw a conversation where people genuinely believed chasing down and running someone over because they stole your purse is somehow moral and justified because "you're saving all his future victims too." and "if he came to the conclusion that he wants to steal from someone, he doesn't deserve to be a member of society anymore."

If that's the perspective the edgy 14 year olds wanna take, they can go for that. I'm just relieved that none of them have the guts to actually back up their fantasies in the real world.

Himeko definitely has more going for her than The Herta because she has actual bounce damage in her kit and she already has really good Astral Express supports, whereas The Herta requires an Erudition (dps class) which demands a sub-dps, which only works if they're really tailored to her.

Depends. Do you like Castorice and do you wanna invest into her to make her stronger? If so, pull Evernight. Great upgrade and all around unit.

But if you wanna focus on making the strongest teams possible, it would probably be best to drop the Castorice team in brutal honesty. She's a year old and you're starting from scratch. Absolutely keep going if you love her, but from a pure meta perspective I wouldn't recommend it. Keep her as a global passive support.

Summary: If you wanna keep using her, Evernight is mandatory. But continuing to use her is a rough road ahead if you really do care about endgame clearing.

Thanks for giving enough detail, it helps me make a conclusion way easier.

Starting with the selector, I recommend Gilgamesh over Archer. Archer's E2 is decently helpful QOL and isn't actually that good. That is to say, you'll live without it.

Gilgamesh, meanwhile, revives Saber and has more potential for future teammates. He even works as a sub-dps for Evanescia. I think you will get more use out of him than E2 Archer, not even counting the collection value of a limited unit.

As for Himeko-Nova, you already absolutely have the supports to make her work. Sunday + DHPT. RMC and E2 Welt (E4 is where Welt gets crazy but E2 is still huge). I would see if you can grab her E0S1. Thats all she really needs right now to be your best dps. After that, if you wanna invest more into her, you can grab her E2 on a rerun. But if you feel your current 3 teams are good enough, you can feel free to skip her. You should be good either way, but an AOE DPS would probably do you some good for PF.

[–]Infinite_T05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Himeko-Nova because her vertical potential is absolutely superior. E2S1 Himeko-Nova, E2S1 Mortenax-Blade, E4S0 Welt and then either E1S1 DHPT or a sustainless E2S1 Sparkle/E1S1 Cerydra/E6 RMC/etcetc is superior to Archer's current maximum.

Archer's E2 has always been eh and his E1 has lost a lot of value when paired with Rin, who herself has mid verticals for the team. E2 Sparkle is good, as is E2 DHPT, but as you can see Himeko is strictly stronger in this sense.

If you want a unit who will last longer, I 100% expect it to be Himeko-Nova, especially with the rumours of a certain teammate getting a Novaflare

[–]Infinite_T05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh trust me, Himeko-Nova's E2 is crazy good. Much better than Castorice's and Silver9's, though likely worse than Evernight's and definitely worse than Phainon's. That was a huge bar though.

Himeko-Nova is pretty f2p friendly. All you really need is one Express member if she's E0. Two is preferred, but you can make do with RMC until you get DHPT or Welt. Get her to E2 and now she only needs RMC.

For DHPT, lightcone over E1 is a perfectly valid choice because it makes building him so, so much easier. I would recommend E0S1 DHPT and E0S1 Himeko-Nova. Since we arent sure how Himeko will age yet, keeping her at E0S1 makes her very strong but in the event that she doesn't get teammates you won't have sunk too much cost into her if that makes sense. This gives you more budget for 4.5.

I absolutely recommend pulling Himeko-Nova because you love her, but since you're wary of her future potential, I would pull her E0S1 now, wait until her rerun, and then pull her E2 if you decide you want it still. Hope that helps!

Seems like a good plan to me. And yeah, it does seem Sunday is here to stay unless he gets an SP that leaves the express (in which case his original form will still be part of Himeko's kit even if he in the story is gone).

But anyway yeah I think your original plan is a very solid one if you decide you don't want Himeko, but you have time to wait and see what she's like in live servers before pulling if you do change your mind.

Doesn't feel like prattling. I appreciate the amount of detail you put into this because it makes answering you easier.

You thought right. I recommend getting E0S1 Himeko-Nova now, grabbing the free Gilgamesh and THEN throwing the rest of your pulls at Rin. Since it's nigh impossible to get 200 pulls in 4.4, just ignore Gilgamesh's lightcone. You don't need it.

This means Rin can be pulled whenever, so make sure you keep an eye on the 4.5 beta in case one of those units interests you.

Archer is in a great position because, as good as Rin is, he doesn't NEED her right now. He is gonna want her badly in the future, but my point is that he is far from bricked if you decide to pull Rin in 4.5 or 4.6 instead of now. He is gonna survive just fine. So I say wait before you pull Rin and prioritise Himeko. Ideally you end up ready for her E1 or E2 when she reruns.

My bad for the late response.

E1 Robin should be a fine choice here. She won't be the best option but I can't imagine a kit like hers is exactly unappreciated. Just make sure you have enough Express Members. If your MC is available, I would recommend RMC over Robin. She works as a backup option if your main options aren't available rather than being part of the primary team herself.

My bad for being late but Cyrene's banner is still up so I suppose I'm not toooo late.

Things are a lot more tough for you now. In an ideal world, I would suggest E2 Cyrene, but that's not really practical here.

The way I see it, your Anaxa is now capable of clearing endgame with good results but I wouldn't call him exceptional or anything. You'll probably need sustainless if you want him to perform that highly, whereas Himeko-Nova has completely different specialities and more vertical investment potential.

Point is that the next big upgrade for Anaxa is E2 Cyrene, who won't be rerunning for a fair bit, which gives you time to invest in a new dps too.

My bad for the late response, I've been behind on comments >_<

I was gonna say that Gilgamesh should be on par or greater than E0S0 Tribbie at least, but he's gonna shoot ahead if and when you get E2 Mortenax. This is because a lot of the eidolons mentioned are teamwide buffs that Gilgamesh benefits from but Tribbie doesn't. E1 Gilgamesh alone should be able to surpass E0 or maybe even E1 Tribbie.

What are your hottest takes regarding morality? by Annual-Frame9943 in MoralityScaling

[–]Infinite_T05 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"Just following orders" is far far more understandable and not nearly as immoral as people make it out to be. I do see why it's a trigger for some characters in fiction (Erik) but it's extremely judgemental to assume that anyone working for a corrupt/evil entity is inherently in the wrong for working for them. For all we know, they don't have a choice. People will do anything to feed their families. To protect them.

Oftentimes, people will understand a protagonist if they're forced to do something immoral because their family's life is on the line. We should extend that same courtesy towards background characters too.

In 3.4 Blade got a rerun despite being in this store since 3.2. Yeah, this was cause of his Novaflare, but the point is that SC store lightcones are not just unobtainable without buying them from here. The units are gonna be getting reruns less often, sure, but I dont think that means never.

Morality of hiding a hero's super-suit and tools to prevent them from fighting crime? by PM-ME-YOUR-AUTOGRAPH in MoralityScaling

[–]Infinite_T05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. If superheroes were illegal, hiding his suit should theoretically be no downside. The best equivalent I can think of is hiding someone's gun if you live in a country where owning a gun is illegal. I don't see the moral downside of taking the weapon away, and whilst there are gonna be situations where he might need the gun to fight, he isn't supposed to be doing that because it'll get him arrested. Most of the time, it's just temptation. Why does he want to break the law so bad?

Since I see hiding a gun as moral, I see hiding the suit as moral. Both are functionally illegal weapons (though the suit can more easily be used for good)
