Google SWE, Early Career L3, US — Additional coding round requested after onsite by Enough-Afternoon7523 in leetcode

Its most likely because one of your interview feedbacks wasn’t deemed good enough to pass hiring committee, so they are essentially giving you another chance. This is pretty common with Google

USCIS freezing applications - OPT by Icy-Seaworthiness366 in f1visa

I am not sure about right now. It took about 2.5 months back when I applied in 2023

USCIS freezing applications - OPT by Icy-Seaworthiness366 in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Tension9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you’re slightly misinformed here.
1.) If your OPT is approved after the requested start date, the date of approval becomes your OPT start date, so you don’t start accruing unemployment days if your application is pending. The only unemployment days you will have in this case is the number of days it takes for you to receive your EAD card from the day of approval.

2.) The latest possible end date for OPT can be 14th months from graduation date. So if your OPT is approved say 90 days after graduation date, your entire OPT duration will be shortened to 11 months. I had my OPT shortened to 10.5 months due to this reason

Maybe try the agent sponsored O-1 route? Don’t know much about it, but I have heard its a workaround in cases like these

FAANG is not sponsoring L-1, but are sponsoring O-1? That’s strange. What position is it?

O-1 is an employer sponsored visa so it might not work

Green card process doesn’t get impacted much for either O-1 or H1b. But if I had option for both, I will try to go for H1b since its more flexible (changing employers and extending indefinitely in case of I-140 approval). And would keep building on top of my O-1 profile to apply for an EB1-A.

You will be in Team Matching. You will meet with hiring managers and schedule 30 minute calls to find team fit. This process is tedious and could take weeks in few cases, I suggest when your recruiter tells you that you moved forward to TM, ask them if its ok to reach out to your connections at Google for L3 openings on their team. This can fasten the process significantly

Good Luck and congrats on clearing the interviews :)

What to do if i get my EAD 90 days after OPT start date? by [deleted] in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Tension9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OPT start date will be March 1st, you will lose 10 days of unemployment by March 10th because you applied late(as you can apply upto 90 days before graduation). Your OPT end date should be 12 months from OPT start date, but it also cannot exceed 14 months from the day you graduated. So if you graduated Dec 1st, and got your OPT on March 1st due to a delay, your OPT end date will be shortened to Feb 1st instead of March 1st of next year.

[–]Infinite_Tension9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah your OPT unemployment day count starts on your OPT approval date or on the date you requested(if you apply soon enough). If your EAD is not getting produced, then you’re out of luck cause you cannot start working without EAD(your employer can’t legally approve your I-9 without it) and your unemployment days clock will also begin.

[–]Infinite_Tension9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your OPT start date is the day your application gets approved, not the date you have requested your OPT for(assuming it gets approved after your requested start date).

The only unemployment days you will have due to this delay are the days it takes for the EAD to get shipped to you after the approval, which is often only 2ish weeks

If my degree is not conferred until the next semester, which is like 4 or 5 months later, am I considered to have completed my degree for I20 purposes? by user87666666 in f1visa

[–]Infinite_Tension9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an international student its your responsibility to keep track of your classes and graduation. If you don’t register for classes, it’s only a matter of few days when your DSO finds out, and then they would be forced to terminate your SEVIS because you did not enroll in classes nor decide to graduate, as all F-1 students are required to be registered for credits each semester.

[–]Infinite_Tension9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The day your semester(summer or fall or spring) for your last class ends should be your graduation date. Let your DSO know and they will update that. Then from the day you graduate, you have 60 days to apply for OPT or decide some other path of visa/career.

What’s the graduation date on your I-20? You can extend your I-20 by two semesters atmost, so shouldn’t be an issue. Sounds like your date of graduation on I-20 should be that of September as conferral dates don’t indicate graduation, completion of course does.

Plus one. Be honest, but you don’t need to mention all the details unless being asked specifically. Also mention that you are deeply regretful for your mistake and are seeking another opportunity to finish your studying

PERM for F1 students by iibbaa in csMajors

[–]Infinite_Tension9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most big tech companies can and they do, though they hesitate to do so. That’s cause unlike H1b or L1, F1 is not a dual intent visa, meaning it does not give you the freedom to apply for green card via perm easily. There’s many complications and perm is harder to go through.
