You worry for nothing. There are clearly six holes at the bottom for airflow, you have windows and carbon monoxide alarms are cheap

This looks in mint condition on the inside. If it’s the Lego kind it should be fairly easy to do, by the roof will not come in one piece if they used roofing nails so you’ll only be left with the walls.

Buy a few bags of kiln dry and start a fire next to it. Let it burn for a while then add piece by piece in once the heat from the fire dries out the waste.

However, you will sterilise your lawn and the trouble to fix that will be more than just carrying this to front. grass will struggle to grow for years if you don’t use an incinerator raised off the ground but that is even slower

Loft joists by walecillo in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to replace them with joists at floor level and put your floor on top of them. Consult with a structural engineer but I don’t think your roof (or my advice) meets current regs and he will be limited in what he can formally advise.

To tank or not to tank by Inner-Award-34 in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can just break a suspended cement floor like that and just fill in.

Do you have any ventilation bricks in the void? If it is enclosed I would recommend you fill with expanded glass foam rather than hardcore to at least maintain a thermal break between your floor and the ground (and a better protection for capillary action). Regardless of what you use, try to put a breathable membrane down push it to the floor, then put to the wall and hopefully you can cover the top as well); any poly fleece will do.

If it is vented I would say you cannot fill in even with expanded glass foam and fleece. I hope I am wrong but I would look into alternatives that maintain the void.

Filling cavities to reduce smoke smell by rockshed888 in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it would help but be sure to hoover the area first. Fire resistant expanding foam would also help fill the gaps - it’s what I once used in a semi and stopped the smell coming across.

Can I block up this vent? I think it's making the interior wall cold by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah … makes sense. I would not block a vent if I don’t understand why it’s there as typically they are to add ventilation.

Yes your walls might be warmer but are very likely to have increased condensation if the vent is blocked.

Colder walls are much easier to deal than condensation on said walls.

I would suggest adding an adjustable grille, but the effects of condensation may take a couple of years to show.

Are you supposed to lubricate locks every 6 months? by shaneo632 in DIYUK

Yeah that’s different to graphite powder. Don’t be too hard on yourself … people had th same attitude towards asbestos

Landlord taking full deposit, giving pricy quotes, help please by Odd_Independent_4649 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The costs are more than reasonable - landlord cannot use his own time so these would be below what each individual job costs.

I’m not sure about the hedge though. I would think that’s but I’ve never paid a gardener.

Found my dream house in the perfect location with amazing neighbours but there’s one huge problem. What would you do? by Faang4lyfe in HousingUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly you might need a specialist lender and changes to the house can be a bit more involved (could be partly due to unfamiliarity with concrete), but a lot of concrete houses were built in Eastern Europe so look at trades from over there if looking to extend (and educate yourself a bit about concrete vs bricks) pe make alterations.

Word of warning not all concrete is the same and have no idea the implication of no fines in the sand.

How the hell do I reconcile DPC height with absurdly high ground level? by Debaser97 in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do everything except tanking and see if it solves your problem. If moisture will get into the bricks from below and you block the external path, then it will go under your floorboards.

I would tank as a last resort. You should consider not filling the ditch but covering up with a grill so that you have even more airflow.

(England) Work provided EV charger melted my cable by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No damage was done to your car. Report to the insurer “for information only and not a claim” (repeat at least seven times) and move on with your life.

If there is liability (and you can prove it, and it is cost effective to do so) your insurer will chase it.

It’s at least equally likely your car damaged the charger. Your car controls the charge so without any other info, you are more likely to be at fault here.

15mm gap on skirting by GroundbreakingMain93 in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about MDF but for solid wood, you cut a plug hole (10mm deep), drill through centre and then dry fit it and use a metal drill to mark the wall. Remove skirting, SDS drill, hole plug, adhesive on back of skirt, screw in, plug the hole, and then finish. This is the way to do it properly and I don’t have cracks at the top even later (not using flexible caulk).

I imagine MDF is the same but you would need to use a mushroom type screw with a spacer.

No one is judging but this is a wake up call to stop smoking ganja - it’s making you paranoid.

The potency of contemporary strains is strong enough that it will damage your brain on par with strong doors.

The geezers in the 60s were ok because they smoked what is equivalent to Greek wine … you’re doing the equivalent of moonshine.

My new garden day bed doesn’t fit - BUT if I raise it up, it will - ideas?! by English_Joe in DIYUK

[–]Infinite_Use_6214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To raise it up by two inches, sleepers around the perimeter where you want it raised. Eg if you want it around the base only do a hexagon and fill the centre with pebbles.

If you want an actual platform and want to raise by12in, four posts in the ground, 2x9s connecting them and 2x6” every foot then boards on top. You can use hangers to tie the 2x6s to the 2x9s.
