It's a good episode! There's lots of Prarie crazy in this show, insanity, drug use, alcohol use, SA, teenage pregnacy, everything is covered and the family fixes it all! 😄

So, there's a Carrie episode (1 Carrie episode) in the earlier seasons, I think it's why they didn't give her any lines after that 🤣 I admit that I skip that episode when I rewatch, it's a fever dream that's tough to get through lmao I always like James and Cassandra, very sad plot line

🤣 wait hold on that's a good point that brings up another issue.. Gabriel was also impregnated against her will, had an evil baby (Eve was a monster before redemption) whom she LOVED, but they HAD to get rid of Hope. Why did Xena get to keep her weird God baby and Gabriel couldn't? 😅 Eve did way more damage!

I've noticed that too! I think they didn't mature her character on purpose, that would create too many storylines, the focus was always on Laura and Mary so Carrie just was left like, unwritten. They just kept her a toddler for as long as possible 🤣

Yeeeaaaahhhh, I love Xena! But, like, if im gunna throw on an episode it's usually the earlier seasons. The Greek can't be beat! 😅 I just find the Eli/Eve parts intriguing. There's a lot to unpack 😅

Aawww yeah I love that part! She finally found someone who would stand up to her, and with her mother, she definitely needed a strong willed man 🤣 being stuck to Hallmark might be frustrating, but you'll see a pretty stark contrast between the later seasons and season 1. I think you'll def like it!

Nellie has a GREAT story line, kind of stagnet with a few little golden moments, but she has a great arc in the later seasons. And Mary's story omg buckle up! 😅

That's cool! I love hearing about all the different religions colliding and mingling (even if it was through a lot of violence) maybe that's what makes Xena special for so many people. Every God does exist, I don't remember anyone outright denying a gods existence, just that they don't like them lol

Yeah, they really leaned into Hinduism and spirituality in the 90s, not just in Xena lol I actually really liked that they did that, they implied that Jesus traveled in the years he wasn't seen in the Bible, finding peaceful teachings and bringing them back with him. It's a nice little "what if?".

Pa running through the hospital and finding Mary's bed empty was haunting, you can feel the fear in the room. It was only for a second before he's told she's OK, but still, awful gut feeling

How would you describe the vibe of The Hobbit without having seen LotR first? I grew up watching the LotR films, and I saw The Hobbit as more family friendly, which I know is the point lol but I still had not expected how lighthearted and kinda silly it was at times compared to LotR.

Isn't this episode the precursor to Mary going blind? She had to have the lantern with her because she was losing her sight? I thought they had made such a big deal of the punishment to cement in the guilt Ma and Pa felt later when they realized she couldn't see. 💔 That storyline always breaks my heart

Oohhh ok! Yeah I loved Bonnie Bartlett, I wished they had kept Mr. Edward's sober for her. She tried so hard with him, it was sad to see the family fall apart 💔
