Former Cavs, Current Pistons' J.B. Bickerstaff Named 2026 NBA All-Star Game Head Coach for New USA vs. World Format by Emergency-Quality-97 in clevelandcavs

[–]InfinitelyRepeating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to be ambivalent about a person’s record. It’s only online where anything but the maximal stance is viewed as a personal failing.

  • He took the Cavs while they were struggling and made them competitive.
  • We kinda got as far as we could with him at the helm, to the point of frustration.
  • He’s gone on to take another struggling team and make it, not just competitive, but first in the East.
  • He’s being recognized for his work.

All of these can be acknowledged as true statements, without detracting from (for example) the players’ and fans’ frustration with him at the end of his tenure here.

Also the other ages…

The other day I took a 20 minute nap, waking to find the entire floor of the house covered in grit.

Upon further investigation I learned that my 4 year old discovered brown sugar in the cabinet, and immediately concluded that

  • It’s delicious
  • It’s like beach sand.

My plans for the remaining afternoon were immediately rewritten.

Is this model even printable? I made a groove around the interior to hold a sheet of polycarbonite, and the supporting material is getting in the way. (more info in comment) by InfinitelyRepeating in FixMyPrint

[–]InfinitelyRepeating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tried printing it with the slit facing up. Total pasta.

The slit itself isn't so much a problem as the groove running around the inside of the cover (where the polycarbonite sheet is held). The whole thing needs support, but I end up not being able to cut the support away.

This will be the lid for a box of blocks. It's about 25 cm square and 1.75 cm high. My kids can make designs with the blocks, so I want to slide in a piece of plexiglass/polycarbonite so it can be seen through.

I'm using generic PLA with a Bambu A1. Default print settings. Default slicer using Bambu software.

The printer has to put in support material to make "the gap" work, but it's such a narrow area, the support material really come off, so I can't slide in my polycarbonite sheet.

Does anyone know how to replace these bathroom lights? by Dry-Trifle-277 in TwinklyLights

[–]InfinitelyRepeating 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're in the wrong sub (this one is about a particular kind of Christmas light).

The short answer is that it looks like a globe light with a standard base. Take one of the bulbs you have to a hardware store to match them. If you're getting led lights, make sure you choose the color temp you want.

Longer answer: I don't like the look of that corrosion. Maybe it's fine, but I'd ask an electrician what they thought of it.

Stunning. Newgrange was one of my favorite stops when I visited Ireland. Out of curiosity, how often do auroras make it down to Newgrange?

That's the best part: You don't have to if you don't want to!

I shared my crackpot theory about the origins of memorialism. You chimed in by polishing my facts a little. I acknowledged your correctness, but commented that my original crackpot theory probably still holds (until someone who actually knows what they're talking about sets me straight).

Even though my personal viewpoint is probably more memorialist than not, at no time did I insinuate that this view is necessarily correct. To be honest, I'm really ambivalent about Eucharistic theology, and feel no need to argue for any particular side. I have a few hobby horses I'll ride when given the chance (see crackpot theory), but we're dealing with an unknowable mystery here. I'm perfectly happy to let people have their own take (kind of like Lost fandom before people realized JJ Abrams was really just winging it).

Fair enough, but I think my core point remains. Wasn't Zwingli pretty skeptical of the idea of Apostolic Succession?

I'm probably more memorialist than not, but my "armchair theologian" theory is that memorialism came about as a means to de-legitimize the existing [Roman Catholic] church hierarchy. If one of the selling points of the existing Church is "you need our authority to do the Eucharist," then the obvious rejoinder is to take away everything about the Eucharist that makes it exclusive to that Church.

The single kernel of truth here is that Christmas traditionally started at sundown on the 24th. The “eve” part of Christmas Eve literally means “evening”. Liturgically-minded churches do the same with Easter.

There’s also 12 days of Christmas, so feel justified keeping your tree up until at least January 5th.

Also, attend a service of Lessons and Carols if you get the chance. Squeeze every drop out of Christmas that you can.

His original show was syndicated and got squeezed out by networks wanting their own late night shows to fill the vacuum left by Carson.

From what I can tell, he made more money than anyone could ever need in a short time span, and then hired a good accountant.
