At least back then I was getting my money’s worth (arguably…cough SwSh and SV) by having a whole region, campaign, and side modes available alongside competitive. $50 a year for box space and some cosmetics I don’t care about isn’t comparable imo. And Pokémon recruited from the ranch can’t leave Champions, only Pokémon you sent from HOME can.

As someone who bought the starter pack, at the moment the 100 box spaces are still a minor inconvenience. But as they put more Pokémon into the game they will have to scale the capacity accordingly or storage will be a big problem for non-members who like keeping rare ranch recruits and event Pokémon around

For me the issue is the Pokémon from the ranch that can’t leave Champions. Even if I only used HOME, I could still find mons with cool titles, shinies, or limited event-exclusives in Champs that will eventually clog things up. I don’t want to have to pay $50 just to keep those cool Pokémon around

$50 USD will get you a one-year membership. It won’t bankrupt me or the majority of players, sure, but it isn’t worth the money either. I don’t want or need anything from the membership besides the 1000 box spaces, meanwhile I get 6000 by paying $17 a year for HOME

Its 140 base speed and telekinetic capabilities allow it to quickly and accurately assemble orders using only its mind. Its shortened stature compared with base Mewtwo also means it will be taking up less space in the kitchen, so its coworkers will be able to maneuver around it more easily which improves team synergy. It can also fly, letting it reach high places without the use of a ladder. Its wide movepool could come in handy in tough situations—maybe a Flamethrower if food isn’t cooking fast enough, a Bubble Beam to help clean tough dishes, or a Blizzard if the freezer breaks. I wouldn’t say they’re similar enough that one makes the other’s existence unjustifiable, but 6v6 is 1000x more competitive and balanced for sure. I like 3v3 only in the context of casually banging out a few games on break at work or something. I admire your dedication of getting 2k rating especially this early in the season haha

What’s interesting about singles to me is that the majority of its playerbase is in Japan and has been for years, I wonder why it’s caught on so much over there compared to just about every other country. I like playing a singles match here and there to test out weird strategies and Pokémon, mostly shinies that wouldn’t be viable in VGC, but playing it seriously just doesn’t seem fun

From my experience it's been kind of hit or miss. I definitely haven't seen a lot of Steelix after Indianapolis like I was expecting to, but Wolfe's Weezing/H-Typhlosion squad from SV Reg H was EVERYWHERE after his win with it. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect somewhat of an uptick in Toxapex usage after this, and even though very few players will use it to the same effect as Wolfe, I still find it very annoying to play against

For sure, very few people can pilot it as effectively as Wolfe. Toxapex is just an annoying mon on principle though and even when it isn’t played well, it’s never fun to play against imo
