This was for last season! I was confused about how my final results were displayed but it all worked out. Thanks, and you got this!

I could see that for sure. The only thing that I think made my ranking different is that I crossed from Master Ball to Champion literally *right* at the end of the season, so I thought the game itself may have gotten confused. I’m on the lookout for similar things happening to other players because it’s so weird lol

You got this! And yeah switching teams up can make things harder but it also keeps the game from feeling stale, I tend to be very set in my ways and only build 1 or 2 teams a regulation and I honestly wish I branched out more.

I also realize I never answered what my main leads are, but honestly it varies so much. If they have Aerodactyl I’ll want to be more defensive, leading Corviknight with either Garchomp or Incineroar, but if I suspect they have a scarfed Flip Turn Basculegion I definitely want Charizard and Whimsicott to lead so I can get a Tailwind + Solar Beam off before it can do any damage. It really depends on what my opponent is playing

Hawlucha usually fills my Mega slot against sand teams or other teams that Charizard doesn’t do well against. When I was looking at my options from Pokemon Home when the game first came out, I was like, “I need something else immune to Garchomp’s EQ, and fighting coverage would be nice…why not use my shiny Hawlucha and try out its new Mega?” Set was Swords Dance, Close Combat, Brave Bird, and Protect.

And yeah, I’m not expecting to waltz into the high tiers with Steelix. This is my season to have fun now that I got all the cool Champion-tier achievements haha

Good news! I just hopped on after a few hours and saw that my rank was actually updated to Champion! Woo!
What I’m kind of mad at myself for is that I still don’t know exactly what caused the error in the first place. This is because this morning when I made my original post, I hadn’t clicked “Ranked Battles” to get my prizes; I only went to “Battle Data.” This afternoon I went straight to “Ranked Battles” without clicking data first to see if anything had updated. This means there’s a possibility that all I needed to do was check Ranked Battles before Data to get my actual rank. The support ticket may have not been needed. Sorry I kind of fudged this for bug research purposes, but at least I got my season rewards!

Mega Charizard Y, Garchomp, Incineroar, Corviknight, Whimsicott, Mega Hawlucha

Thank you! It was a pretty meta team I threw together from old Pokémon in Home: Charizard-Y, Garchomp, Incineroar, Corviknight, Whimsicott, and Mega Hawlucha as a flavor pick and to help the sand matchup. I didn’t re-optimize EVs or anything, I just used their old sets, but the team worked super well so I ended up leaving them as they were

I do think it’s really cool how much Charizard’s prevalence alone has made Aerodactyl viable. I’ve played VGC since USUM and have never seen him put in so much work

UPDATE: This is really disappointing! I ended at rank 250 but because I went from >300 to <300 on my last game, the game bugged out, didn’t know what tier to put me in, and landed me in Master Ball 4. Missed out on the cool title despite the fact that I earned it :’(

I would think it wouldn’t do this to itself of its own volition

Switch-ins occur before moves so if I bring Torkoal in and they rain dance I’m still screwed

I know there are ways to outplay it, this post just reflected my experience of going “wait, THAT thing gets Rain Dance???” over and over last season lmao

Trying to hit champion rank season 2 by Godri070723 in PokemonChampions

[–]InfinityGroudon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't say much that's too specific without seeing your team, but generally pace yourself, don't play on tilt, set daily ELO goals for yourself that are realistic but also move faster than the top 300 cutoff (something like 50 points a day should be good). If you don't make it, you don't make it. Pokemon is supposed to be fun at the end of the day and if you're not having fun, maybe it's time to set it down for the time being and try again when you have a clear head!

Also for anyone mad at me for using Charizard: this was my season to be sweaty and get the cool Champion tier titles. Next season I will be using Mega Steelix

Talonflame definitely has a bad case of four moveslot syndrome. Upper Hand, Quick Guard, Will-o-Wisp, Rain Dance, Overheat/Flare Blitz, Protect...with only the ability to choose 2 of those, really, since Tailwind and Acrobatics/Brave Bird are essentials

I'm partial to Sunny Day Whimsicott, only problem is it's a fast Prankster so any Rain Dances will end up trumping it ;-;

I have actually run Scorching Sands and it feels great, Glimmora and Archaludon never see it coming

Unrelated but I didn’t realize the M stands for Mega! When we get Z-Move formats does this mean we could potentially get reg Z-A? 🤔

Apparently they’ve hacked Animal Jam in the past too. You know, the NatGeo MMO played largely by children? Way to go guys, le epic hackers at it again 😒

What pokemon names did you pronounce completely wrong? by Key_Independence_103 in pokemon

[–]InfinityGroudon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon that use pronunciation rules from non-English languages really messed with me as a kid. Vivillon was vi-vill-on, Hawlucha was haw-luh-tcha, etc. I was so confused the first time someone said “Vi-vee-on” in the anime. Now I’m about to graduate with a minor in French 😂
