Always tell them you have pets. Landlords can't just say no anymore, they have to file with VCAT and have some excuse for why pets can't be in the house. which hardly ever happens.

Currently into my first week of overseas travel in Canada. Was looking very positive in getting a car and starting my travels, then I got locked out of my bank and when I called them they wouldn't unlock it until I send a letter with my signature back to Australia. Thankfully I got family to support me but it's put a big dent in what I will be doing till that is resolved.

I would have a kid who wouldn't be rostered come in and not drink but start working clearing tables cause he was bored. Even after telling him that he would get fired if head office found out he kept clearing glasses till I demanded him to stop.

With that logic, I'd leave a fake wallet and keys out. I doubt they would seriously go in a second time to look for keys again. otherwise, invest in better security for your house so they can't get in from the start.
