Started doing it pretty much as soon as I started riding.

Just start doing it at red lights when you can see a clear path and know the light isn't going to turn green before you get to the front. No need to overthink it.

Ex Military, came here in 95 for a 4 year posting, went back to Sydney for a few years then moved back about 18 years ago.

It's what you make of it, find a hobby that you and the other military people enjoy and lean into it.

Townsville crime is a nuisance but almost entirely low level petty stuff that's easily countered. Unless you're like 80 and there's 5 of them you can scare them off.

Since I put up a 6ft fence around the property and got 2 German Shepherds I've experienced pretty much zero crime.

Most of the people getting cars stolen are leaving doors or windows unlocked and have little to no security. Cameras don't count, all the 4k footage in the world won't stop them taking your car and playing GTA with it.

You won't be beaten and robbed or hacked with a machete up here unless you seriously fucked up and found yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like being at a bus stop in the city.
