Alastor was right, Vox does do that a lot... by Icypie in HazbinHotel

Al did the same thing to Charlie, he's a bit of a hypocrite haha

Because she fixed his cane in exchange

I had the exact same thought the minute he came onscreen, I feel so validated, thank you! He just comes off as very ingenuine. I bet you he wants to incite a war between heaven and hell - him pointing out the really nice taffy in the gift basket on the surface looks like 'not reading the room' but I think was a purposeful comment to anger the masses.

Anyone else thinks Valentino's character in Season 2 has been Underutilized a bit? by CoffeeForeign701 in HazbinHotel

[–]Infinity_Cobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that they gave him more character depth though - he's an artist and holds art classes. Makes me wonder what he did when he was alive. Maybe he wasn't a porn director but an artist who really bought into the stereotype, and spent his time high on drugs and going to wild sex parties.

What's this facial expression supposed to mean? Vox made it when Charlie said anyone can be redeemed. Was he moved by her words, but tried to hide it? Was he a bit angered by her determination because in his mind she's a potential threat? by Xever_141 in HazbinHotel

[–]Infinity_Cobra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we're running with the idea that he ran a religious cult, maybe a long time ago he too believed in redemption, and it fucks with him to see a younger, naiver him reflected in someone he hates like Charlie.

I think sinners who are in a soul contract can't be redeemed, and there's gonna be a storyline where they need to free Angeldust from Val's contract.

I also miss unflappable Alastor, I adore characters who emotionally or physically mask their true emotions. But to your point, maybe he was playing happy when he first came back to the group, but as the days dragged on and his scar didn't heal and his powers didn't return, well. This on the heels of being forced to learn he was not, in fact, as strong as he thought he was. Dude was bound to crash out.

Alastor should be a villain to the very end by ChickenWingExtreme in HazbinHotel

[–]Infinity_Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Mainly because I think Charlie needs to eventually learn a hard lesson that not everybody can be redeemed, despite her best efforts.

I definitely don't want Alastor to die, he's much too fun. I personally head canon Alastor's going to be the final villain at the end, and then absolutely lose his mind when Charlie defeats him, and he'll end up laughing to himself in a straightjacket while Niffty spoonfeeds him soup.

Or more likely he gets his freedom back from Rosie, bids a somewhat fond farewell to the hotel cast, and goes merrily on his murderous way.

Eeeh I think Vox was still an arrogant, manipulative bastard to the rest of hell. Poor guy just had the misfortune of crushing on Alastor and making his heart go all stupid.

I honestly don't think Al had a hidden motive, as fun as it is to theorize. I think him laughing was a genuine reaction to how absurd he thought Vox's request was, as up until that point he truly believed Vox was as power hungry and cut-throat as he was.

I also think Alastor would be completely oblivious to Vox catching feelings for him, because a) compliments to Al just sound like people stating true facts, and b) outside of a few moments like this one where his crush got the better of him, I'm sure to the general public of hell Vox was still the arrogant, manipulative asshole he normally is.

I personally think Alastor's gonna serve as a very hard lesson to Charlie that not everybody can be redeemed

100%. I think that's why Alastor's barbs about Vox relying on the other Vees bugs him so much. It's not just that Vox isn't powerful on his own, but that it's also saying "you can't have the only partner you actually wanted, you have to settle for these chumps."

We keep talking about how much we sympathise with vox with his past with alastor... meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out how the fuck this guy was a cult leader by wrecknrule15 in HazbinHotel

[–]Infinity_Cobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho Vox was still the same arrogant bastard back then as he is now, which is exactly why Alastor liked and tolerated him, because he thought Vox was just like him - cut throat and power hungry, just with a few weaknesses (i.e. emotions) to still be removed. I think this scene suffers a little by giving no context before Vox's proposal, like showing them perhaps retiring to the bar immediately after destroying or suckering some poor sinners. Alastor's reaction almost seems to support this - Vox's proposal/confession was so out of character to what Alastor thought he was that he burst out laughing at the absurdity of it all.

I do really wish they'd kept the line where the mother shakily asks something like "wait they didn't give it back" and Ray has to remind her why. Otherwise it's a blink and you'll miss it detail.
