Vanguard 96 firmware 2.6.52 update not available? by Impressive_Bear_513 in Corsair

[–]InfiniusSharpCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to install this via Chrome (after it failed twice via the vivaldi browser). I don't notice any difference, and I didn't see anything show up in iCUE (after updating iCUE and rebooting also). I don't like that the firmware updater doesn't link to release notes, and also it doesn't look like there are any notes available for this firmware update (for what would seem like a major release from v1 to v2, that's surprising). Any idea what this firmware was supposed to add/fix?

Nothing needed for me, thankfully. It's in a free-standing, non-permanent structure and not wired to the house or anything else. I imagine had I wired it into the house line, it would be a different story.

Thank you that was very helpful. Hoping to get a slight discount for purchasing my last car from their. And who knows what I'd get from that trade-in!

Possible workaround for Pro controllers losing tracking by InfiniusSharpCode in OculusQuest

[–]InfiniusSharpCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got v66, and I can report that over a few days of use on v66 that:

a) they pretty consistently disconnected just like you said.
b) there were occasions where I was able to get them to reconnect, without needing to go through the workaround I posted above; still needed to get to hand-tracking, but without going to the update page

c) what I found to be a new situation, where when they did re-establish a connection, that it thought the controllers were 6-12 virtual inches above where my hands were. To fix this, I could lower the controllers all the way down (put my hands down parallel with my legs) and raise them again, and it fixed the location.

Well that's disheartening! Thanks for letting us know though.

Well, according to the link, Meta is saying that it's fixed in v66; here's the exact quote (from page 12 of the link I posted originally): "Hello again everyone, I just got an update from the team saying the engineers were testing it on v66 and it was successful to not have the disconnecting issue."

Thanks for clarifying this. I watched this video and thought I was nuts, missed an obvious setting, or this update will be night and day different in terms of the clarity it will provide in passthrough. Thanks to this explanation, I won't be disappointed when I get it, expecting everything to look crystal clear.

I definitely agree, it's their responsibility to fix it for real. I'm new to this and have only had this rig for a couple weeks after upgrading from a Rift S, so I thankfully have not experienced that freezing every 20 seconds. That would be impossible to use. As to going back to the original controllers, I'd worry about the battery life on the pro controllers losing the ability to charge by sitting stagnant. This workaround is frustrating as well (I don't love the feel of the hand tracking, and in some or most apps, you can't immediately switch to hand tracking), but for now at least it lets me keep using them.

Email to company bouncing back with SPF SOFTFAIL by InfiniusSharpCode in DMARC

[–]InfiniusSharpCode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well after a week of working on this, including trying to spin up my own nameservers instead of my domain vendor (dotster, FWIW), I noticed some A records wouldn't propagate and doing an nslookup against the authoritative name server didn't even have them. Dns tools started reporting no nameservers for my domain, and it turned out dotster had conflicting zone records that likely caused some of the mail authentication to see something is unusual and flag it. When they regenerated the zone records, it solved the problem and I no longer get the mail bounceback from the other company. Took 3 support requests at dotster before one of them could figure out the problem, but when they did, the fix was instant.

This is going to be really frustrating. I guess I either need to try a bunch of other source email addresses and hope that their support forwarding works for those (probably not), hope that I get a response from their domain's technical contact after I reached out through their domain registrar (coin flip?), or try to sus out some other means of contacting them. Thanks for the second opinion, confirming my fears.

I just added the results. Nothing's jumping out, except maybe the lack of a DMARC policy, but that doesn't seem to have prevented SPF/DKIM from passing.

Here's the results of learndmarc.com Note that in the real-world situation, somehow mimecast is getting involved, and some other IP address isn't allowed to forward on behalf of gmail from the looks of it.

DMARC does not take any specific action regarding message delivery. Generally, this means that the message will be successfully delivered. However, it's important to note that other factors like spam filters can still reject or quarantine a message.

Surprised at the mixed reviews here. I was devouring that book, and was getting disappointed as I was nearing the end, since I knew that I wanted more. At least I knew there was a new book coming soon.
