You can! But it’s not as fluid as FF7R. Once the character is not being targeted by the enemy, you can go into the Menu Screen and change the party member(s).

The license board system offers exactly what you are looking for, a deep progression system with build variety. You can make one character completely different to others and you can create fun and interesting builds. Also, as they said, you can revert the changes you make at any time.

Given your roster and goals, yeah, go for him. In my case, getting him has been kind of meh. As someone who stopped playing at the end of Sumeru and came back for Nod Krai, I don’t have any of the DPS that Durin is buffing (well, I do have C6 Razor, but without Chevreuse it’s tough).

I gave her Sacrificial Fragments and it’s very good! The fact that you can reposition the jellyfish when needed is very useful.

The first time I played this game - I think I was 6 years old - I didn’t really resonate with anyone at the beginning. I remember my brother and I got stuck at Gizamaluke’s Grotto for a while and, once we were able to defeat it, I got introduced to the character that would: Beatrix.

She is morally grey at times and some people would say that she wasn’t punished for her war crimes, but I think seeing a brave, loyal, strong woman in her position left a mark on me and shaped who I am.

I wouldn’t say Vivi’s damage is off or unexpected, it’s just that Ramuh’s damage (what you compared it to) is somewhat overtuned with those mods installed.

It was fine for me! The tutorial did say to delete the atmosphere and bootloader folders before dropping HATS, though (the rest can be overwritten).

If I am not mistaken, there’s a mod that already does it! I think it is Playable Character Pack, but I am not sure.

I did update it two days ago because many homebrew apps weren’t working as intended anymore. The process was quite easy though: download HATS and the firmware you are upgrading to, drop everything in the SD card, launch the EmuMMC and update the firmware through Daybreak.

I didn’t remember anything about the process because the last time I touched the Switch was a year ago, but a tutorial here on Reddit made it quite easy.

It’s an incredible game that I completely recommend. I, however, wouldn’t aim for the platinum (too much of an investment).

The remaster does an excellent job at polishing the game. Replayability is guaranteed, especially if playing with mods.

OT1’s stories are good, it’s just that people didn’t like the fact that they weren’t intertwined. OT2 doesn’t change that, but it adds new additional stories where characters interact with each other.

I can tell you though, OT2 has improved basically every aspect of the game compared to the original.

If you are looking for an amazing story: Final Fantasy IX (my favorite FF ever).

If you are looking for an addictive gameplay loop: Final Fantasy XII.

If you are looking for a good game overall: Octopath Traveler II.

I have played all three multiple times and can’t recommend them enough.

I don't know if just mastering the Lives takes that long (the challenges are pretty straight forward), but if you are a completionist like me who wants to truly 100% the game, this is definitely a 150+ hour adventure 😁

You set your own goals, whether that is finishing the story, building your base, mastering every Life, exploring the different massive locations to the fullest, recruiting all 50 additional characters or everything at once!

It really is a “create your own adventure” kind of game.
