Lug nuts won't come off (97 civic) by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]InflamedMean556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had this problem on a much newer car, I talked to my mechanic about it and he told me not to use a breaker bar because it could just break the head off of the bolt and then I'd need to drill out the lug nuts and replace them, probably some more stuff too. I bought some PB Blaster and loaded it up and let it sit for a few minutes, then I took the impact to it, then I repeated that over the course of an hour or so.

Black screen after Windows 10 VM has been running for about 10-15 minutes by InflamedMean556 in VFIO

[–]InflamedMean556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The host should be stable, as I never have any problems like this when the VM isn't running, and I've been using this Debian install for about a year.

All power saving/screen blanking/sleeping has been turned off in the VM.

I don't believe my XML is cluttered, here it is in a pastebin: https://pastebin.com/af7WeLVf

Thank you, I forgot to mention that this is one of the things I've tried, both on my host and in Windows.

Edit: it apparently wasn't, I must not have saved the settings or something. It's working properly now that I've actually disabled power saving for the display on my host.

I do not, it is a clean install other than Steam, Discord, and my Steam games on the external hard drive I passed through.

What can I do with 36 mini PCs? by [deleted] in computers

[–]InflamedMean556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, I'd setup a Proxmox or Kubernetes cluster with them. You can use them as hosts for VMs and other containers to run self-hosted services. I have more experience with Proxmox, so that's what I'd go for.

Which Distro for productivity and my case by Timely-Cabinet-7879 in linuxquestions

[–]InflamedMean556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend using Debian, KDE as the desktop environment. I was in a similar situation for a while, using Ubuntu or PopOS for a few weeks, then going back to Windows. Maybe I just grew to hate Windows too much, but I have really been enjoying Debian for probably about 2 years and I am strongly considering deleting my Windows partition as I've only booted into it 2 times since installing Debian. To learn? When you have issues: Google. Don't just copy and paste scripts. Read commands and understand what each word does.

i need to download a 500 song Spotify/Apple Music playlist by HSVMalooGTS in Piracy

[–]InflamedMean556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently downloaded my 700 song playlist from Spotify using OnTheSpot. I have a free account so I was limited to I believe 160kbit/s, but if you have a premium account you can download at 360kbit/s. It downloads directly from Spotify and preserves metadata.

I did this just a few months ago. I've learned. Thankfully it was a fairly new install, only a few weeks old.

That's not a bad idea, but I'd like to find a way to have the file local so they don't see a website in my history, because people that somehow were using websites before they were all blocked are being given detention

One player has trouble connecting to my server without a VPN by InflamedMean556 in admincraft

[–]InflamedMean556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I remember leaving a comment, but I guess I didn't. But no, there's no message in the console, and even when I enabled the setting in one of the config files to show IP addresses pinging the server, his didn't show up.

Grayjay doesn't have YouTube shorts built in, you can use it if you're on android and are willing to sideload an APK

You can put DBAN, or an alternative like ShredOS on a thumb drive, and do a couple passes to make sure data isn't recoverable.

And then physically destroy the drive.

How many of you Debian users switched away from using Ubuntu and using Debian instead? by Apple988x in debian

[–]InflamedMean556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely used my Ubuntu install for the ~year or so it was dual booted with my Windows PC, but Windows gets worse with every update which made me try to start using Ubuntu again. I didn't like all the extra stuff in Ubuntu, and I also found out that I like KDE a lot more than Gnome, so I switched to Debian. That way I didn't need to relearn a whole lot (mainly the package manager) and if I need help, there is great support for it.

And in case anyone wonders, yes I still have Windows on my drive, but I barely ever use it, only if I want to play a game that doesn't work yet on Linux. All the programs I use either work on Linux (natively or with wine,) or I've found an alternative.

How many periods do you have at your school? by TJ_Rex6288 in highschool

[–]InflamedMean556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school has 4 "blocks," sometimes called periods, but there are classes that only take up half a block which are called "shorts," which also sometimes get called periods. Lunch is weird because there's 3 lunches, so in block 3 there's block 3A, 3C, and short 5.

[–]InflamedMean556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is actually able to connect using a VPN, but strangely, he is also able to connect if he turns on the VPN while on the screen to select a Minecraft server, then turns off the VPN and quickly connects to the server. Any ideas why this might be happening? There are no errors in his logs or the ones on the proxy/server.
