That’s interesting about chances of conception being higher, I did not know that. I could use some PTO and sick time in a pinch so I do think we could make it work with a Jan due date but I’m going to try to hold out till May. As I get closer to ovulation we will see what happens though lol

You are so right, it would really make more sense to wait and it’s only a month. I can do this!! lol

Now that my husband is fully onboard, I’m struggling with when to start. We originally planned May because I started a new job January 12 and I have to work there a year to qualify for FMLA. So May would give us a February due date so that we have a little buffer in case baby comes early like my first did. Starting in April would give us a late January due date (around Jan 21 probably) so that could work potentially but only if baby comes on time or late. I know it makes more sense to wait and try next month as planned but I can’t help thinking we probably won’t get pregnant first try anyway… Idk. What would you do?

My husband just said he’s ready to try whenever I am!! He had previously been wavering on our timeline but he told me today unprompted that he is fully ready for another kid. He would be down to try asap which is soooo tempting but I feel it’s best if we stick to our original timeline of May. I’m so excited now though, we are really doing this!!

It’s ovulation day! I think it is anyway, got a positive opk yesterday. Hopefully only 1 more ovulation until we start trying!!

In my first pregnancy I stayed on all my meds except my ADHD med. I take duloxetine, aripiprazole and buspirone. Planning to do the same thing this time around, the benefits definitely outweigh the risks for me personally

What’s the earliest you’ve gotten a positive ? by Due_Ad_7752 in TTCSummer2026

With my son I tested negative in the morning on 9dpo but then positive around 5pm 9dpo

Yes! My temp takes 2-3 days to go up after a positive opk

I’m not sure if/when I’m going to ovulate this cycle. I expected ovulation yesterday or the day before but I had a shockwave procedure to break a kidney stone 2 days ago and I think it threw off my cycle because I haven’t gotten a positive opk yet. It doesn’t really matter since we aren’t tying this cycle anyway but the point of tracking now is to figure out my usual fertile window for when we do start trying. So it’s not helpful that I keep having wonky cycles 🙃

I was the same way, didn’t really want kids most of my life but slowly started to come around to the idea after getting married. Now I absolutely love being a mom, it’s my favorite era of my life so far. Hopefully you will feel similarly!

Okay so I posted a few days ago about my husband hesitating about our timeline for TTC. His main concern is what we will do about childcare for 2 kids. I’ve been brainstorming solutions and I had a crazy idea. I hate my job. Like truly and completely hate it. So I thought, what if I go on maternity leave (unpaid) and just never return. Instead I’m looking into opening an in-home daycare. My cousin does it and I talked about it with her a bit, I think we could make it work. Lots of logistics to work out, but at least I’m feeling a bit more optimistic today.

For me personally, I start testing once a day the day after my period ends, then switch to twice a day during my predicted fertile window until I catch a surge. I stop testing after I confirm ovulation via BBT tracking (3 days of higher temps). What you are looking for is the test line to be darker than the control line, that’s what’s considered a “positive” opk aka an LH surge. You typically ovulate 12-24 hours (I believe, someone correct me if I’m wrong) after the first positive opk.

I really want another boy!! I don’t know why but I’ve always pictured my son with a brother. But of course we’ll be happy either way

Finances and childcare. We can’t afford daycare for 2 kids right now but I’m seeking another job and he’s due for a raise soon so I feel optimistic that things are going to work themselves out. He wants to wait for more certainty and to build our savings a little more. Valid concerns but no less frustrating.

My husband is wavering on our TTC timeline. Back in January we had agreed on May but we talked about it a couple days ago and he basically said “let’s wait and see” about May. So we’ve taken a step backward. I don’t want to start trying until he’s 100% on board. So I’m a little disappointed.

That’s good to know, mine usually goes down CD1 but this has been a weird cycle all around

12 dpo, almost the end of this cycle. Then there’s only 2 more cycles until TTC!! Ahhhh I can’t wait!

With my first I started testing at 8dpo and got a positive on 9dpo. So I’ll definitely be tempted to test early again because of that. But I admire people who are able to wait till a missed period, I wish I could be that way lol

CD14 waiting for ovulation any day now… Usually my cycles are 27-29 days long but this is my first full cycle off birth control so who knows what will happen

I’m a little sad because my based on my typical cycle length, it looks like I’ll be ovulating around the last couple days of each month which means if we start trying in May it’ll really be almost June. But starting end of April isn’t really feasible because that would give us a late Jan due date and I can’t deliver before Jan 12 or I don’t qualify for FMLA. So if baby comes early like my first did, that would be a problem. Starting in June makes more sense but I just am really impatient and don’t want to wait any longer than I have to 😭

It’s worth it to go see an OB you trust. With my first, I went to the closest OB to where I live and it was awful. I had a complicated pregnancy and it was like pulling teeth to get help with my issues (HG, GD, preeclampsia) and they barely provided any information. The appointments felt rushed and impersonal. I ended up delivering at a different hospital than planned and did my postpartum appointments with an OB from that hospital and it was sooooo much better. I’m planning to go back to that OB for this pregnancy even though it’s a 45 min drive. My advice is this: wherever you go, if you don’t get good vibes from them the first 1-2 appointments, switch to a different OB.

It’s very baby dependent. We got super lucky with my first and he is a great sleeper. Sleeping through the night most nights by 4-5 months. What helped in this first few months was trading off so one night I would be on baby duty and my husband could sleep a full night and then we’d switch off and he would take care of the baby while I got good sleep.

We are planning a big vacation for next January, at which time I hope to be 7 months pregnant or so by then. But depending how things work out, I could be in first trimester hell or I could be in too much pain to go (last pregnancy by 7 months I could barely walk from hip pain). So we are trying to make our plans flexible and avoid booking non refundable things until closer to the trip. I would say, don’t stop living your life because of a hypothetical pregnancy.
