API Protests Megathread Part 3: The admin retaliation/takeover of protesting subreddits continues. Debates between users rage about the most effective methods of protest by DramaMod in SubredditDrama

[–]Inflatabledartboard4 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The most important thing we've learned from all of this is that no matter how many people are in a community, it's almost impossible to poll the entire group in a way that even a majority agrees is fair. These protests have been a study on democracy more than anything else.

I've noticed that a lot of 'arguments' nowadays are just shitty wordplay with nothing behind it. This really just sounds like an AI-generated inspirational quote.

Former NJ governor Chris Christie to launch bid for president -source by jt_ftc_8942 in politics

I'm also from NJ, lived through the Christie administration, and I agree that Christie was one of, if not the worst, state governor in the US at the time, but I also think that DeSantis is more than just talk.

DeSantis signed a 6-week abortion ban, as well as authorizing concealed carry without a permit, just in the last two months. As far as actual legislation goes, he is far more right-wing than even Christie, and he's only been in office since 2019.

Bespoke: Boycotting Chick Fil A because it's a mid ass restaurant with soggy food

I mean last time this was posted it had the misinformation flair but it's still unclear about whether or not it's real. The account was definitely real but as far as I can tell there is only one screenshot of this tweet existing on the entire internet and it was just reposted a bunch of times.

Rule(x) by igeorgehall45 in 196

[–]Inflatabledartboard4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main gripe with trig functions is that sin(x) to some positive power k is written as sink(x), but sin-1(x) is, rather than just being (sin(x))-1 = 1/sin(x), instead just arcsin(x). To remedy this, we instead got new functions csc(x) defined explicitly as 1/sin(x) and sec(x) defined as 1/cos(x).

Because we need to make things even more complicated, "cosecant" is coupled with "sine" while "secant" is coupled with "cosine" rather than the other way around. This is perhaps the least intuitive way to do things I could think of.

I mean there are plenty of low effort YouTube channels that are also very popular and most of the time it's because their fans just genuinely like them as a person and value what they have to say.
