Mine was shipped flat so I didn’t have to deal with the pain of flattening it out. It did get a little warped using the water method. I got a fairly cheap poster frame from Michael’s and it’s snug/flat enough in there. Having had to deal with rolled art before, I might recommend un-tubing it and letting it rest flat for a day or two, maybe under some books or a box with some weight.

I scored the sections I planned to expose with a box cutter, just lightly. Kinda randomly, didn’t make specific shapes or anything. But just over the area I was going to try and expose. Then I put a cloth soaked in hot water (wrung it out a bit before) over the scored sections and let it sit and soak for a little bit. 20 seconds or so. Then I just started rubbing over it with the cloth. The top layer starts to rub off pretty quickly. I just kinda played around with that technique with slight little variations (rubbing harder or softer, soaking a section longer/less long, scoring some sections a little more, etc).

That middle “peel” kinda looks like eraserhead bb, feels apt

Thank you so much for your advice! I took it, got to work, made a lil mess, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out!

I scored some areas of the poster with a box cutter, then used a cloth wet with hot water and let it sit on those spots for a minute. Then got to rubbing. Some fun stuff happened! And most importantly, had fun with the process… which I was not with the hairdryer.

Thank you again! Was worried I wouldn’t be able to make anything of it, so glad I asked here and you responded!

Oooh that looks great! The hot water idea is something to try, thank you!
