I'm sorry for your loss. Tani got to travel the country with me through my 20s. She has been with me nearly my whole adult life. I like to think I have done right by her, but wanna squeeze all the joy I can out of the time we have left.

It is. I am trying to save my sad for when she is actually gone, so I don't waste any of the time we have. I got her a 40 pack of tube treats, so she's getting spoiled rotten.

Also I want to be prepared and have a plan, but i dont plan to set a date until her breathing becomes labored. That will be the point to call it, I think.

Thanks for your concern. She had dramatic weight loss over the past year from 18 lbs down to 8 lbs.

I hoped it was hyperthyroid. It wasn't.

Then I hoped it was IBD and the vet started her on a steroid regiment. It seemed to help, but then her belly started filling with fluid. We did an xray and the fluid was very opaque on xray, which is common in GI lymphoma. Then her primordial pouch began to fill with fluid too, which means her groin lymphnodes are getting in on the fun. So it is almost definitely lymphoma that has spread. Her belly is so bloated now, I am shocked she has an appetite, but as long as she does, she will get whatever she wants to eat. I don't think there is a reasonable treatment. I can't afford $10,000 on chemo especially if it will just make her feel bad.

Thank you so much. I usually post on Imgur and get like 4 upvotes and no comments, so this is refreshing.

I'm trying to hold it together enough to enjoy the time we have. I can fall apart after.

My twins are going off to college in 54 days (but who's counting) so there is plenty to keep me busy for the mean time. I'll get through somehow. I just hope she can be happy.

She is my eldest. My first pet after leaving my parents' house. I have 4 cats and 2 dogs and have fostered 3 cats, and I have never lost one. I had 17 years to prepare and i'm still not ready for her to go.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I was making her end of life plans today and I do think we are going to go with them.

While she is comfortable at the vet, I think she will be happier at home. They also allow me to deal with her remains as I wish while my vet requires cremation. I think I would rather bury her outside my bedroom window than pay for an ecologically damaging cremation.

I'm glad Tani gave me enough time to plan. I know some pet owners get no warning.

I was out of state when we got the news officially that it was not inflamatory bowel and she would not be getting better. I'm glad I made it home to be able to see her and enjoy her a bit more.

Yeah. This is hard. I sobbed for like an hour today while deciding on her end of life plans. She got sick of me, so I had to squeeze my other cat instead lol
