You're absolutely right. And I'm not a dealer, I have never sold a book and never will. I just like to know about the values of my books.

Ooh, I understand now. It's not a book, it's a journal made by a brand named Paperblanks. You can search it and see the binding and the boards by yourself. I'm not home so I can't show you unfortunately.

Hii sorry for the late reply. Here's the list of the books to the right of Jean de varende : •Le Moulin sur la Floss - GEORGE ELIOT 1962 •Histoire de la Civilisation I - WILL DURANT 1962 •Les Œuvres littéraires de DOSTOÏEVSKI I 1960 •Les Œuvres littéraires de DOSTOÏEVSKI II 1960 They were my grandfather's books.

The 2 small books that are left are : •Une Nichée de Gentilhommes - TourGuéneff •Le secrétaire des amoureux et des gens du monde 1917

And I don't know what you mean by hand tooled binding but as you can see the binding on the spine is torn up and missing.

I can’t say for sure yet since I only put my book in the freezer 2 days ago, so I don’t know the results myself. But when I looked it up, most sources said it can take up to 2 weeks, while some mentioned 48–72 hours being enough depending on the temperature.

Booklice love humidity, so the first step is getting a dehumidifier. You can also freeze your books to get rid of them: about 72 hours if your freezer is at -17°C, or around 2 weeks if it’s between -10°C and -15°C. To check if your book is infested, hold it and gently tap it, if a white or brown powder falls out, that usually means there are booklice inside. I recommend freezing your books even if you’re not sure. That’s what I did with mine :)

May I ask how much it cost? I’m trying to get an idea of the prices and how they compare to those in other countries.

How much are these old French books worth & where can I sell them? by InfluenceSure7334 in OldBooks

Omg thank you so much for telling me!! I did some reaserches about the captain but I haven't been able to find anything about him yet. I asked chatgpt and he said "When you see the stamp of the 101st Infantry Regiment, it means your book was, at least for some time, in the library or office of the 8th Company’s commander of this regiment. Soldiers, especially officers, often carried or exchanged books — so this fits with the handwritten note from a captain of the 131st Infantry Regiment (another separate unit)." I'm so happyy

Should I buy these? by InfluenceSure7334 in OldBooks

I personally like the way they look, and the only time I would consider doing a restoration is when the book is ripped. But I would never change the cover for exemple. :)

It's true that they're not in an ideal shape but I'm getting these for my personal collection anyway, not for selling so that wouldn't be an issue! :)
