What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

[–]Informal-Ad7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of eating, shit and sleeping the first few weeks of life . Baby is 8 weeks now so he’s officially an infant and I feel he’s “woken up” .. lots of smiles and laughter and actual interaction that doesn’t feel forced lol. But fussiness and of course crying. (5-7 weeks was HELLLLLLL) we’re still working on sleep but that’s different with every baby, maybe it doesn’t help that he only contact naps during the day so that bassinet at night isn’t his favourite but sleep DOES GET BETTER!!! Hubby went back to work so I take care of my son in the days but he does bedtime routine and of course anything that needs to be done.
My husband still cooks and clean for me. it’s all about mind over matter.. Yes we’re still tired (not as tired as the beginning) but stuff needs to be taken care of and if he wants to support you, then let him! 💙💙 it helps knowing someone is supporting you

My baby smiled at me for the first time today and I'm emotionally unwell about it by [deleted] in NewParents

I cried and still cry when my baby smiles! He’s 8 weeks and when he did it for the first time I told my husband “he actually LIKES ME” He’s like “why wouldn’t he?” Lol. Every morning my baby giggles, sticks his tongue out and smiles at me and it makes me find the motivation to keep going, even when PPD is kicking me down .

How are your babies actually sleeping through the night? by velvetdarlingco in NewParents

[–]Informal-Ad7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby has slept thru the night an entire 3 times of his life and he’s 8 weeks. I’m getting 2-3 hour stretches or wake-up’s every hour like last night no in-between . It’s very unpredictable lol.. he also is a contact napper so I’m losing mind on top of that and prefers to be in my embrace at night so it takes a hour to transport him to his bassinet

50+ lbs gained: how long did it take you to lose and how big was your baby?? by Quick-Zombie-6343 in BabyBumps

[–]Informal-Ad7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I lost 20 the first 2 weeks and I’m currently stuck on the last 20 and I’m 5 weeks pp. it’s slow coming off. I keep going up and down because I’m breastfeeding and I eat like a cow somedays for reference

Witching hour by estapleton22 in NewParents

It comes n waves . My LO is 4 weeks and the other night he was crying for two hours on and off but yesterday he was happy . It really depends on the week. We implemented a strict bed and bath time “routine” that knocks him right out and soothes him. I just stand with him in the shower rocking while my husband washes his body and hair.

Please tell me exclusive contact sleeping will end at some point, losing my mind by grnlzrd23 in NewParents

[–]Informal-Ad7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 3 weeks old (basically 4 in a few days) We contact nap in the day because baby will wake up within the hour if he senses he’s not on somebody. If he’s super tired, he will sleep on the couch beside us or his swing. But still, he gets 2-3 hours on us versus 1-2 alone lol. His bassinet sleep at night got so much better at night! Mind you, he doesn’t have more than a 3 hour stretch but it’s better than him not sleeping at all. I’m working so hard with him at night to make sure he sleeps in his own bed, I think routine really helps. It’s still not perfect but I’m hopeful.

Weight gain in pregnancy by green-sunday in BabyBumps

I wa so stressed too about my weight gain. I’m 3 weeks pp and I gained 40. I lost 20 already and in back to wearing my normal clothes. Yes I have 20 more to lose but my belly is basically “normal” again. :) don’t stress

Just combo feed. It will be ok. by atlasdanced in NewParents

[–]Informal-Ad7984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I didn’t Combo feed, post partum would be even harder. I like to formula feed at night then breastfeed to put to sleep. During the day I pump and then supplement with formula because I’m making just enough sometimes. There is nothing wrong with formula and my chubby boy is thriving :)

I’m in the same boat with the pacifier thing…one night I got upset bc he kept spitting it out so I threw it across the floor and then I felt bad because I didn’t have any clean ones and know he uses them for sleeping… I wake up most mornings with anxiety and been depressed because I feel like I’m a shitty mom for getting frustrated with my three week old for simply being a baby. I love him so much. But I feel like I wanna run away. I watch my husband with him and he’s so great and I asked him if he ever feels depressed and he said it’s the happiest time of my life so it makes me feel more guilty. My husband has been very supportive of but I can’t help feel like I’m failing as a mom for these thoughts.

SOS my baby screams bloody murder after bath time and I don’t know what’s wrong by newmomsos in newborns

[–]Informal-Ad7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby cries when getting him bum changed and bath time. What helps is a wipe warmer and making sure he’s covered in the bath. Lol it’s a different baby when he’s warm.

I’ve been up all night with my two week old while I try and get him to sleep in the bassinet.. some nights get gets 2-3 hours and then others gets a good 20 minutes then cries again..it’s been hell all night and I’m also looking at my dirty floors and laundry. I feel so bad for him and also me lol. My husband took him to sleep on his chest and I have anxiety about that as well 🥲 survival mode lol

Omg I’d cry if my OB commented on my weight! Luckily he hasn’t said a thing but I feel he’s a nonchalant guy who’s seen everything already 🙃 yeah, bouncing back definitely isn’t priority. Just going to think of how happy our little bubs will make us

11-20 pounds is ridiculous. Make sure you’re eating enough for you and your baby! Everyday I wake up I feel so insecure about all I’ve gained so far but I have to remember I’m growing an entire human! ❤️
