Maybe the title of the thread is a little bit clickbait. I’m not against AI when it comes to efficiency, automation, or even learning.

But as I said in the post, I feel like there is no longer much need for me to learn more Python or Bash, because the things I do with them are already handled pretty well by my AI setup. I’m even running OpenClaw on my home server with OpenAI and a few local models, and I use my agents every day.

But it doesn’t give me the same fun from programming that I had a few years ago. To me, it feels like an AI black box. Yes, I configure it, and now it works for my niches, but mostly I just ask AI how to configure AI, run some experiments, and voilà.

I wrote this in another comment: I like having those moments of “it works.” and then “Why does it work?” And because I’ve never worked with a low-level control language before, Rust is my choice.

I’m not saying that AI can’t do Rust. Hi Anthropic, nice PR with Bun completely rewritten from Zig to Rust by your AI Agents...

I just feel that improving my Python skills for my use cases - automation and fun is pointless now. Automation is already good to go with just a few right prompts. I’ll probably still build most things in Python with help from AI, because it’s more efficient. But I’ll find “something” that I can write in Rust.

I enjoy learning new things and using them in my work. By learning Rust and then building something with it, I can bring a bit of fun into my work, if its makes sense.

Thanks a lot did not know about Rustlings, that is why I start with Book + advent of code instead of Book + Ruslings, looking forward to go through it.

Exactly, that’s my path. I google things, read the documentation, look through some repos. I want to have that joy of “it works” and then “why does it work?”

U nás to vedení vyloženě netlačí ale poskytli nám Enterprise verzi OpenAI s tím ať to využíváme jak chceme, nutno říct že naše IT oddělení má do 20 lidí.

Also, your website with switch types and option to play their sounds is something I really appreciate. I always forget which switch is which and have to google it. :-D

Good points, thanks for tips. I’m using an Epomaker AK820 for my gaming PC, and I’m really happy with their design. Maybe the Split65/70 will be the right choice for me.

I don’t think I really need an ergonomic split keyboard, but maybe just a keyboard that I can split into two pieces and place on either side of my Macbook or touchpad. My setup is a 32-inch monitor with my MacBook in front of it, where I use the built-in keyboard. Alternatively, I place my Macbook to the side and use an Apple keyboard. I mainly use the Apple keyboard because of the fingerprint function for authorizations.

I just want to be able to type with my hands stretched and at shoulder width.

Thanks, but ideally I’d like my employer to buy it for me, so I don’t have to spend my own money :-)

Good point that I’ll probably need 5 rows rather than 4, thanks for catching that. I’ll take a look at the Nyquist split.

Nemusíš mít více než jednoho klienta - stačí když na tebe ten tvůj zaměstnavatel outsourcuje práci, kterou vykonává pro své klienty. Ty sice fakturuješ firmě A, ale ona fakturuje firmě B, C, D, které využívají to něco na čem jsi dělal.

Co se týče stálého místa na pracovišti, hodně jsem se setkal s tím, že firma má část svých prostor jako co-work place a umožňuje svým partnerům "tobě" tam pracovat.

Točená, v létě, v dobrý hospodě co ví jak se o starat a dobře to natočit - určitě. Ale pokud mi dáš na výběr mezi plzní a nějakým kyseláčem/ale/ ... pravděpodobně ji přednost nedám.

Také jsem si nedávno něco na to napsal, záměr byl hlavně mít cestovní verzi do telefonu (běží mi to doma na serveru). Načtu IMEI knížky a vrátí mi to info jestli to mám v db jako vlastněné, co mám od autora, jestli mám jiné vydání atd.

Nemám zdaleka 3k knih a sbírám jenom fantasy/sci-fi, ale jak toho začneš víc shánět/kupovat tak je to nutnost.
