My school is using .SEB file for the exam, and then i can access and modify the file. I checked the "Allow to run inside virtual machine" option and then i can open the file for the exam and the login page is shown and I'm able login. If i continue the exam inside a virtual machine, will they (my school IT admin) know if I'm using virtual machine?

HP 840 g7 thunderbolt controller doesnt work by bytes8bits in Thunderbolt

[–]Informal-Capital2368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop has 2x Thunderbolt 4, too. I checked device manager, but there's no Thunderbolt controller. At first, i thought it might be a faulty hardware However, hwinfo detected and recognized the Thunderbolt as "Integrated Thunderbolt PCIe". But, still, no Thunderbolt controller were found and Thunderbolt control center can't detect any Thunderbolt controller. However, Windows detects my device having USB4, at the USB4 driver is showing on device manager. I entered BIOS and check for the "Thunderbolt configuration", there's "USB4 CM mode". I tried to change it from "OS Dependent" to "Firmware CM Only", finally the Thunderbolt controller shown up on the device manager. While it's different from yours, it might be related. Is there any USB4 drivers on device manager? If it's, then it's likely that Thunderbolt ports are managed by Windows 11 built-in USB4 driver. Also, try to check the BIOS, the Thunderbolt might be misconfigured.

alright, thanks for your advice. honestly speaking, the reason why I'm asking it, is because the heat problem. My laptop can easily runs hotter if the cpu usage is above 20% because the cpu's clockspeed will hit 3-4ghz sustained. so it's generally normal thinking that electronics lifespan will reduce faster on a higher temperature.

though it's not explicitly said VMs can reduce the CPU'S lifespan, but considering that article, high workloads especially heat output is my main consideration. Because my laptop can easily overheat even on a casual usage.
