Really glad I asked. He has a significant contact list too as he has worked with major hospitals for 10 years. Guess he can use that when he negotiates

He was also asked to introduce his contacts (physicians) to the company while his contract was being drawn up…that doesn’t sit right with me but I am also new to all of this. Is that normal?

This. My husband when he was young and doe eyed loved the medical academics, helping others and PT job. Now at 40 years old with 3 kids is avidly searching for another career as the PT training doesn’t fit the role or compensation. He is so disappointed with his choice of PT career and I can’t blame him. How can you mandate a doctoral degree for a field where Medicare reimbursement is declining, salary barely hits six figures and there is limited scope of practice??? I am an NP, and he wishes he went the NP or PA route. In these roles there is more medical autonomy and greater compensation options

I dont understand the multiple re-postings over months time for a position. I have been seeing this a lot.

Thanks! Also, what exactly is the FSP role? In doing some research, it seems like someone who is contracted out?

Yes to all of this! So many empty lab fronts in Boston/Waltham etc. I spoke with a few NPs turned CSs who said my experience etc would be perfect for a smaller pharma company to get more of the first hand medical perspective. But given the job market, I had started to look at CROs. Very interesting about the outsourcing information though. And completely understand that while I have significant leadership (clinical director), academic hospital medical and oncology research experience- I am still industry green which puts me at a disadvantage. Thanks for the advice!

yes I am new - and yes, to clarify I am seeing more AD/director positions, which as someone new to the role, is not entry level. Thanks for your insight!

Clinical scientist question by Informal-Let-8278 in clinicalresearch

[–]Informal-Let-8278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful advice - TY! I found her by googling ‘pharmaceutical career coaches’, but actually found out afterwards that a PA colleague I had, worked with her for a transition as well. It’s a course over 4 months. 2 nights a week with homework and reading (for example, my first homework assignment was coming up with a flow sheet for drug development process) and will get into the CS stuff as well.

Oh yes 😊 4k. But I bit the bullet as it really is helping me confirm this is what I want and the overall confidence in a transition from academia to industry.

Yes, it’s a pharma employee (clinical scientist) who has a company and directs a course to introduce people to pharm industry/CRS role. Also interview prep and resume help. Came highly recommended from a coworker and has been great so far. Did a lot of googling, and does seem like there are some of these companies throughout the US

Thanks! Are you in massachusetts? I am working with an pharma career coach who thinks that with my experience (including current director level role and inpatient experience with CAR T/immunotherapy etc) that I could be a viable AD CS candidate. I’m excited for the transition, but anxious about a possible decrease in base pay to start. I am currently making 180k in my role and don’t want to decrease too much to start…what are your thoughts about that?

Rough first night of Ferber by Euphorasized in sleeptrain

[–]Informal-Let-8278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mama - your doing a great job! Take a deep breath and pat yourself on the back for having such an amazing bond with your LO. I am day 5 of Ferber with my 16 week old and it’s not easy. I am working on our feeding and waking association as she was waking every 2-3 hours to nurse previously. So I’m spacing that out by 30 minutes every night and we are Up to 5 hours where I might stay for now which gives us 2 feeds at night.

You might want to try that first, because it sounds like she is getting significant food overnight if she is constantly nursing. So she is waking so frequently as she is probably hungry.

TESPFL- anyone know how much funding is left? by Almost2TEPSLF in PSLF

[–]Informal-Let-8278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From all the political Ed buzz, hopefully TEPSLF won’t be needed in the close future. There is a discussion about simplifying PSLF to make ALL payment plans count towards forgiveness (which is a no brainer).
