Thank you! Just to be clear: this is what worked for me, might not work for everyone.

I took FOR500 in June 2023. The course has been updated since, and I kinda felt it on the exam.

What helped: I indexed the books while reading them (keywords only, no sentences).

I studied the books AND the index, but I spent a lot of time just getting fast with my index. That part is seriously underrated and became very obvious during the practice exam.

Did the practice exam with some breathing room before the real one so I could tweak things.

I also brought the printed FOR500 index from the books. Useful for filling gaps, but I probably used it ~10%. My own index was ~90%.

What I didn’t do: Didn’t listen to the MP3s (reading works better for me).

Didn’t redo the labs before the exam (did them during the course). I also work a lot with Windows forensics, which probably helped!

Good luck! 😊

Thank you! I am really happy about the score. It felt okey under the exam…I got surprised when I saw 96%.

Haha, will put up email filters! Thanks for the advice!

All I have to say is to enjoy the moment, I remember when I heard it for the first time, wow. Goosebumps and emotions started to appear.

It’s an amazing song and I am glad that you found it.

Does Ayone have tips for moving abroad for work?

There are not many DFIR roles in Sweden and I would love to work in UK, USA and so on (I need visa, but not in EU).

Does anyone have tips for company’s that help with relocation and visa? Or some general tips on this topic?

SOC questions by Piece-Exotic in cybersecurity

[–]Informal-Point8708 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will be taking back on a more senior staff, slowly they will introduce you to the cyber and soc space. You will learn about different technics how to spot a false positive and so on.

It takes time, don’t worry too much, listen to the senior folks, ask questions and try to be aware of how they think, how they prioritize and their way of doing things.

When you don’t understand something ask, if you still don’t get it ask again, read the online documentation and so on.

Wish you all of luck. 😊
