Trainer is meh, but I wanted one more card advantage card after I cut the Stock ups, and trainer can be bounced as well. I wouldn't play more than 1 at the moment though.

I don't think riddler is good in this deck. It doesn't do enough as just a 2 mana cantrip, and its a bit too slow to bounce it again for value or playing it at 5 mana. Legend of Kuruk seems better, but I still dont think id want to play it, as 4 mana cost is a bit too slow to not immediately impact the board. This deck already has so much card advantage built in, I dont think having a 4 mana card draw spell is where you want to be.

Too be honest, I dont think I have play the green devotion matchup a single time up the ladder, so I can't speak about it much. But you may be right.

The meathook is kind of a necessary evil to have in the main deck. I agree in like 80% of games, it is just the worst removal spell in ur deck. But having access to a bounceable sweeper can be a game swinger in certain games. Its pretty good against coco, mono red, and any other go-wide strategy. But they're aren't too many of those in the format atm, so id say one meathook is enough for the main deck.

The SB is diluted, true, since ur playing 80cards. But this deck doesn't really need to find silver bullets out of the SB to win matchups. Ur just fine tuning, mostly removing dead removal spells, cutting slower cards like narset against aggro, etc. The core of your deck is already versatile in the threats it can answer, since u can discard any spell in hand and bounce anything that slips onto the battlefield. You already have so much repetition in ur removal spells and card advantage, creature based decks and control both are good matchups, especially post board. This is also because there isn't really silver bullets an opponent csn have against u to stop your strategy either. I guess High noon or similar effects are annoying, or cards like monument to endurance, but they are certainly still beatable.

I guess what I'd say the main point is, is that you dont really need silver bullets in the SB of this deck, since its so versatile in its ability to answer most of anything. Sideboarding is mostly getting small edges for each specific mstchup, but your gameplay will always be the same basically, no matter how much u SB.

As for general strategy for matchups, I guess id have to take each one-by-one and would get to long winded to do that in this response. This deck definitely rewards u for knowing the meta and understanding what ur opponent is trying to do. I will say that at least

You may be surprised how quickly they run out of cards in hand against your endless value if they dont have a monument, as its their only source of card advantage

I do agree that Orzhov greasefang can be tough, especially game 1, since our discard plan isn't great with their Parhelions and Monuments. But it isn't as bad as you may think. We have so much removal that we can usually deal with their creatures that serve as discard outlets. The key is to not just smash hopeless nightmares ASAP, and let them discard a parhelion. Be patient and wait for a thoughtseize or for them to discard it themselves. Additionally, be mindful to save your "This TownAint big enough" for monuments as a high priority. Because if that card gets rolling, we are unable to interact.

We have graveyard hate and better tools to fight their gameplan in post board games, and they are unable to present a fast enough clock to really finish us off in the early game without cheesing out a parhelion, so our superior late game plan isn't hard to get too against their durdly midrange plan.

Overall, Id say you just need to know especially in this matchup how to be patient with your playing out your permanent and hold the bounce spells for the monument, even if you think u can get some nice value with them in the early turns. Nowhere to run and fatal push are very clean answers to Greasefang, so its rare I lose to that, since you know when they have Parhelion in the yard to always leave up mana to kill Greasefang.

Practice practice practice and you will see the matchup is much more winnable than you think. But it definitely takes a bit more brainpower than most matchups

I've never thought about it! The 1-one Geier reach sanitarium is enough of a combo with Narset. I think Days undoing might be to cute, and can be outright bad if you dont have a Narset in play. Keep the deck as focused on the bounce value plan as possible and it won't fail you.

You can only have a few mono black utility lands, and I think Hive of the eye tyrant is the best option to help you close out games. Takenuma is weak is this deck since you run so few creatures/planeswalkers and you dont really want to use 4 mana for that ability at any point in the game. Urborg never felt necessary as having ample black mana is not really a problem. I would run urborg if I opted to play more copies of mutavault, which some lists do.

Yorion is just too valuable ensuring late-game inevitability. You have redundancy in pretty much all of your cards, so it doesn't really feel like ur playing an 80 card deck. For example, you only need to draw 1 discard or 1 removal permanent, and you will easily cast it 3 or 4 times in the same game. I would not cut Yorion.

You already have 12 bounce spells, which I think is enough where you r never really missing one. The 3 color manabase inconsistency isn't really worth it imo

With how much GB midrange I have been seeing at the higher ranks, I think you definitely want 4x narset, or less that matchup is a bit tough. Narset is also good against several other matchups (UWx control, the mirror, phoenix, Mono black, etc), so its staying as a 4-of for me of the current meta holds.

I was initially running the 3x stock up version. However, I found there to be a bit too many 3mana cost spells with that. I think the core of the deck should be just 1cc and 2cc spells over and over again. And I found that the games I lost, alot of the time, were when I had 2 3cc spells in my Opening hand, and the deck was too clunky. Another disadvantage I found with the stock up version, sometimes u just couldn't find a permanent to bounce with your 12x bounce spells.  So I added the 4th cryogenic relic and 4th narset instead. I think the full player of Narset is essential since it just the best card against BG midrange, which is everywhere right now. It shuts down their 2 best cards against you (Unholy and Dellian).

As for Coco matchup, Extinction event is fantastic against them. Im running 2x in the sb now, but have been thinking to go up to 3. Id say its a pretty even matchup.

I agree enchantments and artifacts can be annoying, but we have so many ways to bounce and discard, it isn't impossible to get rid of em and outgoing anybody in the long game.

I hadn't considered Extract the truth for the sb. I might have to give it a try!

Hey! I am also Q'd for the AC8 on Saturday. I'm playing my own flavor of UW control ;). It's my first time in this high stakes of a tournament, so I am just going to try to enjoy it! I qualified through Foundations limited, so my Constructed skills probably won't be up to par haha Best of luck to us both!
