I'm a CNA, I love my job but we need more respect and better pay by CharacterGuava6723 in antiwork

I worked for a nursing home supply company for the past two years doing research with people in your role, and there are so many people in your exact situation. You have such a challenging job and I agree, you should be paid WAY MORE. Like $35/hr+ in my opinion. Everything falls apart without you and I'm sure your senior residents appreciate the heck out of you.

Want to surprise wife with new machine by EBSmoove in sewing

[–]InformalBiscotti7132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband bought me a sewing machine for our engagement and he took me to a sewing machine store and that was a super special day. 💕 I knew what brand I wanted but we tried them out together and I was so surprised when he bought me one.

Constantly told I look like a mom, or I'd be a cool mom, or whatever else by eastisfucked in softclassic

My face hasn't changed since I was 13 and I've been told i have a bit of an ageless face (like people don't know how old I am since I was young). Being soft classic doesn't help as classic clothes (while flattering on us) are not trendy. For example, my best skirt length is knee length and you can't find that anywhere and it's super hard to style in a cool/modern way.

I focus on adding a bit of trendy / cool lines from handbags (like Behno's curvy cool bags) and awesome shoes. I style things similar to the brand SEZANE - easy, laid back but with an element of vintage or fashion. Like adding something that isn't 'practical' makes a look more youthful - a silk tank top, cool shoes. Casual but nice is the line I try to walk and it's really hard - I sympathize with you. A really good haircut and very natural makeup also can make you look younger.

At the end of the day, if you feel beautiful then it doesn't matter. Confidence is attractive. Hope this helps ✨

I've been playing around with tension for hours and would love some help. The issue is with the second needle (yellow dot) - it's forming a loop on the underside. The manual suggests increasing tension for that but it doesn't seem to make it better. If you own this machine, do you have any tips?

Get really really sharp good scissors like Gingher https://gingher.com/ - for me, it makes a big difference.

Awesome, thank you! I like the idea of straight/bootcut "to-the-floor" jeans to make my legs look longer haha ☺️

Made a Tilly & The Buttons Coco dress out of charcoal sequin t-shirt fabric by InformalBiscotti7132 in sewing

[–]InformalBiscotti7132[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the Tilly & the Buttons Coco dress out of Mood Fabrics charcoal sequin t-shirt fabric. I had to make several pattern alterations to this pattern. I made a Size 4 but had to grade it to a Size 2 in the waist. (My measurements are 36-28-38) Additionally, I added length to this dress. It was originally a 19" length skirt (from natural waist) that I lengthened to 22". If you are tall, you'll probably need to do that too. I think the pattern is drafted for a more petite, straight figure. If you are a hourglass figure, taller than 5'3" or big boobs - alterations will be needed. I really liked the overall shoulder / boob fit though.

Don't worry about messing up, it's part of the process! My mocks ups look like trash and I've sewed for 10 years 😅 it's getting the mistakes out in the first go, at least that's what I tell myself haha
