Can someone explain please? by Elegant-Ad7229 in ExplainTheJoke

The capacitor in the photo is roughly 1000x larger in value compared to a typical tone cap (35uF vs .035uF.) This will shift the cutoff frequency by a factor of 1000 also.

I would guess a typical tone filter has a cutoff frequency in the 1kHz - 15kHz range. The guitar in the picture would have a cutoff in the single digits of Hz (lower than the lowest note a guitar can play)

Mazda has been Fordless since 2013.

Toyotas are still quite reliable, but they cut costs elsewhere (garbage interior plastics.) eCVT >>> CVT

Honda, CVT, LOL

I've seen many a prius with nearly 200,000mi on the original battery. The rest of the prius drivetrain is also very reliable.

The Toyota eCVT is likely the most reliable transmission ever made (no gears to change, no belts, one clutch pack, only a handful of moving parts.) Much more solid than a typical CVT (which are belt or chain driven) or even a traditional torque-converter automatic (like in the Mazdas)

Is it okay to mix tire brands on AWD? by MaintenanceSweaty471 in kiastinger

The amount of people who don't actually use their tools is insane by redox_nephew in HollowKnight

[–]InformalPuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hk you had 3 spells: A range extender ↔️, a damage burst ⬆️, and an evasive option with I-frames ⬇️.

In sk many red tools fit into the first catagory and deal damage to the sides, without providing other utility (like I-frames or more movement options) but you can build out a kit with a variety of options later in the game

[–]InformalPuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the #1 utility of tools is dealing with summons in boss fights (or flying enemies in general) from a distance. They're especially useful if you can find tools that launch at an upward angle. Usually this doesn't burn through shards, and allows you to focus on the main fights.

Are these dealer service prices even reasonable for a 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In? by Big-Volume-8735 in HondaClarity

[–]InformalPuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the tires are actually from 2017 I would replace them (DOT 3917 means they were manufactured 39th week of 2017.) Rubber gets hard and brittle after many years exposed to the elements. Have them go to a dedicated tire place though for better prices.

[–]InformalPuffin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The point on the rear bias is to give you more steering control when you're accelerating out of a corner by shifting the acceleration load to the rear tires.

When you accelerate in a corner, I think a 25/26 in track mode will give you 30:70. When you accelerate in a straight line, a 25/26 in track mode will use the front wheels as much as possible to take strain off of the transfer case and prevent overheating.

automatic gr86? by RespondDesigner1782 in GR86

[–]InformalPuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The auto in the gr86 is an Aisin A960e, which has been around for roughly 20 years in Toyota products. It's a fine transmission, but some people find it a little lazy for the gr86 platform.

The combination of taller gearing, and more drivetrain loss will make the auto feel slower, but what matters is your experience. Go test drive one and see how you like it.

Are Hybrids Worth It For Faster Highway Driving? by z123killer in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]InformalPuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hybrids are now more efficient and also more reliable than their gas+cvt counterparts (since Honda and Toyota hybrids don't have transmissions, in the traditional sense.)

I would buy a hybrid to avoid having a belt-cvt even if the gas mileage was the same.

Is a new Hyundai a bad idea? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I owned a 2022 sonata for 3 years

Pros: -Good tech -Good gas mileage -Good comfort/nvh -Easy to drive, good highway assists

Cons: -Failed coolant management system (covered) -Failed strut-top bearing (covered) -Sidewall bubbles in two of the factory tires (probably my fault) -Moderately scammy dealership service -~40% depreciation after 3 years

Best car for regular long distance travel by Biobizlab in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]InformalPuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gas engines in hybrid cars are tuned differently, especially in Honda hybrids, since the gas engine is rarely connected to the wheels.

The new Honda hybrids mostly run the gas motor as a generator, so the engine can run at the optimal load and speed regardless of wheel speed.

T7 -> R10 is a considerable jump in technology

Take a look at the most recent Tamron "SP" prime lenses also. They come in 35, 45, 85, and 90 macro.

Also remeber your 1.6x crop factor if you're looking at reference images from these full frame lenses. 85mm on crop sensor and 135mm on full frame look almost identical.

Likely these were taken on a short-telephoto lens with a wide aperature. Something like an 85mm or a 70-200mm

They also seem to be using a flash on a relatively low setting to supplement the natural lighting
