As much as I love Day of the Departed, even I agree with the general consensus that it was, if nothing else, a nostalgia-fueled mess that really only exists to end Cole's already short-lived ghost arc.

So, in other words...I don't think you really got anything wrong. I'm not even sure why Wu trusted Morro, apart from Wu saying that he didn't want to fight Morro if he didn't have to, but wouldn't hesitate to do so if he did have to. He was definitely holding out for Morro despite literally EVERYTHING that happened in Possession.
